Roar Intake

Has anyone heard anything about that Roar intake they were suppose to come out with for the 02? It was the carbon fiber intake with the electric fan built into it. The personnel from roar were asking for people to lend there cars for their prototype. Looking at the dynos on there website, I think this will top all the other intakes by far. They had cars gaining 15 hp and 19 ft lbs throughout the entire powerband to the wheel. None of this peaking bull****. They make intakes for the TL-type s, BMW, Porsche, mercedes and others. I can't wait to see the dyno for our car.

People have been talking about this for awhile. But it is like a poor mans way or supercharging. But cant really work cause a FAN cant push air unless the whole system is sort of sealed. Like the fan in your home, if you cover the front side, it still blow air out the back. Even if you cover it up completely, it will still spin, thats cause there is not even power in that fan.

No electric fan is going to have enough power to push a good amount of air in quickly to benefit.

Secondly, the throttle body is already sucking up air at an ENOURMOUS rate that no fan could over do.

No, This is actually a High end intake made by a company called roar. They have a Cold air style intake made from Carbon fiber w/ an electric fan that blows air towards the intake manifold. I cannot remember the website off the top of my head, but in it they show numerous dyno sheets for various cars( BMW, Mercedes, Acura, Etc.) All the dyno sheets were pretty impressive. Strong gains throughout the entire powerband. I know they are located in or around Las Vegas. They were asking for people on this board to bring there cars down as tests.

hrmmm upon further research, this does not seem to be an electric supercharger type BS. The purpose of the fan seems to basically bring cold air into the intake from the outside... interesting concept..
Here's a full write up/review from the bimmer guys..

I wonder...

would you still say it has no extra hp gains after a dyno sheet showing that there is a gain, be it 2 or 10hp? i don't personally have one of those intakes, but at least a dyno sheet is some sort of proof......hey no offense(sp?), it's almost like someone saying the same thing about the franken or k&n intakes....peace.

no to sound like i am promoting my product, these intakes really can't make more HP whether they are on or off. they will make HP but no more then a COLD AIR INTAKE and prolly no more then a frankencar intake. think about how fast a TURBOS or SC's spin just for comparision, up to 200,000 RPMS, how fast you think that fan is gonna spin 3000rpms?? i've seen things like this before, one was an electric Supercharger, supposed to be like 1psi and that didn't work either. the fan just CAN NOT spin fast enough. the fan being in the path of air might actually cause turbulence and reduce HP.

Precisely! Check out the following analysis:

I wonder how Roar would respond to this analysis?

This is something that Steve and I can agree on. These are gimick car products. I feel sorry for anyone who actually buys them.

ROAR and Vornado combo...

I was thinking about adding a supercharger...you know, STRONG and DEPENDABLE torque and horsepower...but then I heard about ROAR and I knew if I combined the ROAR with the "swirling" effect of the Vornado in my intake, I could produce 50, maybe 60 more HP just at idle!!!

There's a sucker born every minute...
