Glad My Wife Wasn't There!

I was in a dealership today. On the floor room, side-by-side was a Maxima and an Altima. Although there are differences, from the front they look very close. Then from the side, they're just about the same length.

If she saw that, she would have had a fit why I'm spending thousands more for the Max.

They just don't understand, do they?

My gf and I sat in an Altima together at an auto show. Even she was disgusted and told me that I was not allowed to buy an Altima!

how did you pay thosands more? you must mean 4 banger vs 6, because they were going for the same price.. and in some instances the maxima was lower

I took a peek at comps. on Edmunds and I stand corrected. I guess I just assumed this year's model of each line differed by the thousands since that's been the case in the past. I was very surprised to see the price comparisons.

Just the same, Alts will always play second fiddle to the Max and smell just as cheesy

I don't know why anybody would buy an Altima instead of a Maxima. Even though the Altimas are awesome compared to every other car in its class, a loaded Altima is only about $1000 less than a loaded Maxima. I did see an Altima in the mall the other day with a 4-cyl and almost no options for only 16K though. If you don't give a crap about performance or options this would be a pretty good deal. What I can't figure out is that even though the Altima appears to be about the same size as a Max, the interior seems a lot smaller.

Your right! The altima's interior is really ugly. The max is a much better all around car. But I do like the tailights on the 02 Altima!

I was considering very seriously to buy an 2k2 Altima... until I went to the dealer and sat in one of them. I was very disapointed with the interior, specially the door panels. Even though the Altima exterior is very attractive, the Max just feels more solid and nicely built. The Altima was not for me...

When I heard the 2k2 Altimas were finally on the showroom, I had to take a look. So on my next oil change I checked it out and to my surprise, I didn't like it. I honestly thought I would like it, the people at the Nissan Dealership were raving about it how nice it was. The exterior looks great, it's just that when I sat inside is when I started NOT to like it. I'm not saying it's not a nice car, far from that! If i had to choose a car of the same class (like a Camry) or an Altima i say an Altima all the way. (there's probably going to be a Altima web site that are going to say how they don't understand why Max owners would buy a Maxima )

Ugh how could you even think of an altima ... those tail-lights are nasty ...definately a good choice with the max

I went to the dealer to buy an Altima, ended up with a 2k2 Maxima SE, 6spd. Fell for the Majestic Blue. I liked the Altima, and could have lived with the interior because I liked the way it drove. But coming from an '89 Integra, it wasn't much of a upgrade. But once I saw the Max in MB, that was it. The Maxima interior is much nicer and quieter. The Altima had a noticable thump in the rear end, and I wasn't crazy about the dash, especially around the radio. The center armrest sucked too. And the cheesy install for the fuel door release was pretty bad...just a slit in the carpet. Plus, the deals on the Altimas weren't that great, got a much better deal on the Max. The Altima will be nicer when they make what's standard on the Max (HID's and ABS) standard on the Altima, and fix the interior.
