2k2 6 speed fluid question.
So i changed my 99 fluid when it was new to the redline mtl, man what a difference. To get the old fluid out, it had to be de-vacced(sucked out). My dealer told me today that the 6 speed has a drain plug and doesnt have to be de-vacced. Anyone know for sure before i get under my car?

There are 2 bots (size 10 hex head) located on the driver side of the trans…a high one and a low one. Take off the high bolt (fill plug) first...then take out the low one (drain plug). Be careful because the fluid comes out fast (I got it everywhere ).
Once it is all drained out, screw the drain bolt back in. You will need a funnel with a hose attached (a rather long hose at that) and start filling the trans. The service manual says its needs 4 and 7/8 pints, which equals 2.438 quarts. Fill it up till it over flows...let it over flow, then plug her up and your done.
No vacuum...no problems!!
I haven't had a chance to drive it yet (blizzard here), but I am looking forward to it.
Good Luck!!

What a great topic...I just got done changing my trans fluid . First off, use MT-90 and not MTL. MT-90 matches the required viscosity rating for the Max.

Does anyone know what the best fluid to use is? I know it should be a 90 weight, but I am afraid to go with synthetics. In my 95' Civic, I put in synthetic saw an increase in fuel economy but I also started to lightly grind synchros on fast shifts. In the 2K2 Maxima, I already feel the synchros catching a little on shifts into 2nd and 3rd. So, does it make sense to go to a synthetic like Redline or Mobil 1 for 6 speed tranny?
