ECU check

Can anyone tell me how to reset the ECU, I need to check why my check engine light came on and I want triped it.

Yeah i know that, but I want to see what tripped it, not just reseting it

you can either do that or pick up a obd2 scanner from just about any parts store. they run about 150. this will keep you from having to deal with nissan unless theyve got to fix what is might be messed up.
