Depending on usage and oil use (some are fed oil through the engine, some use ATF in the supercharger that needs to be changed every so often) supachargers should run for a LONG time...I wouldn't say lifetime, but 100,000miles isn't unreasonable to expect from a mostly street driven supacharger.

If it gets NOISY....it might be on it's way out. Time for a new one, or a rebuild.

If properly taken care of I don't know if mileage can be documented.
As far as time, definitely over 3 years.

If it does breakdown, send it to Vortech to have it rebuilt.

my friend has 60000 miles but he did run the 5.5 psi of boost that came with the charger.... he ran 7psi most of the time and 9 for a little while....
his charger seems loud all the time,,,, there is a high pitched noise from it all the time, once you start the car, the noise comes......

kev: how much will it cost to rebuild the charger?????

and would the high pitch be because my friend is using a 4th gen charger on the 5th gen???

tell your 'friend' to post some pics.
sounds like a v1 in a 5th gen.

Is this the infamous white 5th gen with a Ninja kit?

4th gen blowers can be the same as 5th gen blowers... if he used Vortech V2.

Think you can get a sound file?

Contact Vortech: http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com to get a quote. I *think* the rebuild is about $400.

All 5th gen supercharger kits should be V2, unless he somehow got a V1 with the kit.

Look at the supercharger label... it should say V1 or V2.

V1 off a 99 or 98? The kit won't work if he did that because the piping is completely different... even down to the holes for the MAF tube (4th gen MAF bolt holes have a rectangular pattern, 5th gen MAF bolt holes have a square pattern). Unless he had a shop make them for him, it should be a V2 kit for a 2000 Max.

is it necessary to move the wind shield washer holder when installing the charger?????
i remember that he moved the stuff in the engine compartment around just to fit the supercharger, i am sure he has a v1, cuz he bought it off his friend's 98-99 i30.....
and he did bring it to a shop to install...

No, it's not required.
