KYB AGX struts now available for 2000+ Maxima/I30
Another Maxima performance solution brought to you first by Cattman Performance...
KYB AGX struts are now available for the 2000-2002 Maxima/I30 from Cattman Performance. These are the AGXs for the 1995-1999 Maximas that have been modified to fit the 2000+ using re-designed mounts and brake line tabs.
Backorders have been filled, there's a set or two on the shelf ready to go now, with many more coming into stock next Monday/Tuesday.
Price is $450/set of four (my cost to modify the struts is almost $70/set). Orders can be placed through 800.795.1513, 8-5 MST, M-F.
What I know from early installations is that there may be more than one solution to making the upper front mounts work with these. You can buy Nissan upper front strut mounts for the 1995-1999 Maximas (there are several versions, all should work), and we have a limited number of those on hand for $70/pair (or buy from your local dealer).
If you're more adventurous it seems to be possible to modify the stock mounts so they will fit (by shortening a tubular spacer underneath to allow enough threads to emerge at the top so you can securely fasten the top nut). I'd encourage creative solutions with the stock units, there's no profit in selling the mounts and I hate to see $70 added to the cost of putting in a set of struts.
I'll just add that not only are these struts fantastic performers, they are the only decent struts currently available for the 2000+ Maximas/I30s.

Brian,
Is it true that KYB will be making struts specifically for the 5th Gen sometime this summer? If not I'll wind up picking up a set of your modified ones. Just checked out your page and saw the CAI for the 5th Gen! I didn't even know they were out
I will be shopping from your site very soon, looks like you have alot of goodies for us. Quaife is on top of my wish list right now.

Just wondering if someone has an answer to the 5th gen question. Is there going to be 5th gen specific AGX available anytime this year (as opposed to the modded 4th gen)?
Thanks.

Next year.
I can see how the subject would do that LOL!
Anyway, next year, as in early next year or late next year?
I know I'm asking for a lot but a year can be a long time
If it's like late next year, I'll go with the moded ones now, if it's early next year, I'll wait and if it's middle next year, I have some thinking to do

I'm curious too. Obviously I don't want to be caught with a bunch of modified sets (more expensive) when the factory-ready sets for the gen5s come out.

Thanks for that information, KYB seems to be pretty reliable with their timing estimates. That means I'll keep them in stock for a few more months, I don't think most people are going to wait another year.
So, for those who want or need them, Cattman Performance is the source. $450/set. [The cost to modify them is substantial -- the difference in price over the gen4 set is literally my cost.]

When KYB finally released the 5th Gen AGX, will you still be selling the modded ones?
