the agx's are plug and play, very very good, easy to adjust while they are on the car, and last for a long time. don't lower the car without them..

you can adjust the stiffen of them, from soft to hard, hard will be harsher to ride on but handle better.

I am planning to do the same thing, install H&Rs on my car, but I am going to use stock shocks.
I used to have H&Rs on my 95 Maxima with Tokicos and Tokicos sucked so bad. So I don't know about other after market shocks.
I don't know much about AGX, but I definetly don't need that adjusting stuff.

There are people here on the .org that have lowered their car with H&Rs and used their stock shocks, and they say car rides fine on stock shocks. No problems.

Im installing with stock SE struts/shocks. If you dont need the added stiffness and performance, stay stock. Some people are lasting 45-50 miles on stock.

please don't lower your cars on stock shocks, it's jjust not right, mine on my 95 blew after about 100 miles, i drove to maxus (400miles each way) with a dead rear and a dying rear shock, not fun. i got toks after that, they were better but not the greatest, they work, but this time it's AGX's baby. it's not worth the efffort to reinstall stuff a second tiem when you have to replace teh springs.

See, you talk about wasting money, AGX's are a laugh to. Listen, find me a 5th gen Se driver who's shocks blew out that fast.

Greek,
So are you saying that the 5th Gen shocks are higher quality than previous generations? Just curious, I also want to put on a set of H&R springs on my '02 SE but don't really want/need the adjustibility of the AGX's. I just want to get the car down a couple of inches.

I've had HR's on my car for the last 8k miles or so and I'm on stock struts too.

No problems yet and the car handles great but I've heard that your stock struts will wear down faster with the aftermarket springs..

Is this because there is a greater danger of bottoming out the shock strut and thus causing internal damage because of the shorter springs? It seems to me that even with the shorter, stiffer sport springs (at least those with a reasonable amount of lowering) you will work the stock strut in the middle to lower end of strut compression but still within it's compression limits. Assuming of course, you avoid the major road craters as much as possible.

Isn't there a bump stop/cushion on the stock strut/spring setup designed to prevent the strut from being compressed past its design limits?

Is this bump stop/cushion modified in any way when shorter springs are installed?

On the KYB AGX's are the front and the back both plug and play, cause i'm pressed for money so the install would be done myself with friends. I've already done the fronts and i plan to do the rear with progress springs and i'm going to just wait for the new struts does anyone have any tips for me on the rears it looks a lot more complex than the fronts

2 inches eh, well you are asking for alot. All I have learned from my searches is that SE Shock & Struts and stronger and spotier then the other models, thus explaining why they last longer with aftermarket springs. Mind you, going higher then 2 inches is asking for alot from any stock unit.

Agree. "A couple of inches" was a generalization on my part. I really don't need to go any lower than what a set of H&R's will give me.
