LSD question...???

MY car comes with Viscous LSD. I assumed that both wheels would spin, but now im hearing that from a stop, if you floor the gas, only one spins? Im a little lost. Someone please explain how it works. I know Mustang GTs always have 2 spinning, burnout with 2 wheels.

If your car spins one wheel from a stop it doesn't have the VLSD. The LSD sends power to both wheels. To check, jack the fron up, spin one wheel (in the forward direction) and if the other wheel spins the same way, you have the LSD.

ok so just as an example, your Max doesn't have LSD. One wheel powers the car while the other wheel is basically in neutral?

Actually that is a good question...I believe that each wheel is powered, but when one wheel loses traction, the power isn't distributed the the one that isn't slipping. Not sure what the percentage is.

Not neccesarily. I know a chevy limited slip, when you turn one the other turns opposite.. This is because it "limits the slip" then locks both wheels. When you do a burnout with this type of rear it starts off with one wheel for a couple seconds then locks the other and does a two wheeled burnout. This is not the case with my ford though. They both spin the same dirrection in this rear. The nissan I am not sure about though....

Could you clarify a bit?

"but now im hearing that from a stop"...

are you actually hearing your tires or have you 'heard' from others that this is the case?

I know my AE, even with a stick, does a very good job keeping the front end under control...as has been discussed in other threads the VLSD has a bit of a delay since it primarily senses slippage, while the new HLSD is torque oriented...
