Smoked a Lincoln LS V6

Last weekend me and a couple of buddies went to Canada. We left chicago at 1am saturday since we knew the roads would be open. Somewhere in Michigan, a V6 LS comes up and we started playing around playing tag and such, then I wanted to get serious and leave him in the dust, at 70mph I floored it when we were about even, and left him in the dust, I didn't get off the accelerator until i reached 140 aprox. maybe 138. Verry nice!!!! Never taken my car that fast, and I was only at about 4500 rpms.
Does anyone know what stock Max speed is??

Another question whats faster auto 02 max or auto 02 Altima

Thanks!

Yes it is not unusual for a max to go that fast. However, I find it hard to believe that you were only at 4500 rpm 6000 rpm sounds more like it. what do you drive an auto or 6spd?

No. Lincoln has a V6 that offers either a 5-speed or auto. The V8s are auto only. If I remember correctly, the V8s are 255 hp and the V6 are around 200-210 or something like that.

We have a 2k2 V6 LS and it is no comparison to the max (any year)in the speed department. Isn't it sad that our V6 makes about the same power as their V8?

Speaking of the Lincoln LS. I saw on some website today that the new LS will have an optional supercharger coming out that will be making 340hp. It does 0-60 in 6.2sec and the 1/4 in the low 14's. But personally to me if a 340hp V8 can only produce 0-60 numbers in the low 6's then that is plain pathetic.

I believe those LS's will be modified by McLaren (not the company that makes the F1) based in Michigan, I think. Although not sure if those blown engines will be standard in the LS line.

Yes it is John, C&D tested the I35 in the same issue as the auto Altima;
7.3 sec to 60 for Altima
6.9 sec for the I35,Max is even quicker do to the fact it is a couple hundred pounds lighter, i got 6.6 in my 2k2 auto
The I35 was quicker in every category; 30-50,50-70,5-60mph.

I had a 2k LS with the 5spd stick, and the one thing that car always needed was another 50-80 hp. Even offering the V8 with the stick would have given me fits with whether or not to get another LS.

There are quite a few things that I miss from the LS:
- handling that absolutely would trash a Max;
- brakes that are much better than the Max;
- quieter with regards to windnoise (better seals) and quieter when it rains on the windshield (thicker glass on LS);
- heated wipers (the damn Max freezes all the time);
- personally liked the styling more;
- classy touches such as the way the doors lock (just smoother than the Max) or the way the interior lights dim when you close the door;
- 4 yr 80,000 km warranty with paid service;
- incredible HVAC system;
- great anti-theft device from the factory (loved the motorized pins that locked the steering wheel when the ignition key was removed
- extremely reliable, even though mine was an early first year model

What I don't miss:
- Ford service;
- fake wood trim;
- ugly gauges;
- condensation in headlight lenses;
- Ford service;
- lack of power;
- stone chips;
- serious lack of interior storage space, especially if you have the cd changer in the glovebox

What I love about the Max:
- interior design compared to LS is far nicer, IMO;
- Xenon;
- heated steering wheel;
- VQ;
- interior storage space is amazing

What I don't like about the Max:
- just barely enough headroom;
- front wheel drive;

BTW, the 2k and 2k1 6 cyl LS were 210 hp, the 2k2 got an additional 10 hp (nowhere near enough). Even though it's a dog, don't think of trying to keep up to one in the twisties. A Max won't do it unless it can get on the motor.
