Got a ring from my doorman yesterday" Jay, you got a package" I started to get that tingbling sensation in my stomach. Ran downstair and sure enough, it was from Shox.com aka RD enterprises.. Yeah!! I shouted, my Tokicos are finally here.

Called up "yo its ok" aka Hogan and he had me scheduled for today..

Went to the shop and saw Hogan had a BIG smile on his face... And all he could say was " its f***ing AMAZING"
"its a total different car" I took care of my tab and shot for the Cross Island Pkwy. (for those of you who knows the turn from CIP into Van Wyck) Got into the entrance ramp at Utopia WOTed it. Adrenaline was rushing to my head approaching the big turn which i had white knuckles even with the Eibachs. Glanced at the speedo- 85 MPH!!! I took that turn with NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!!!!!
Keep in mind I am still running with the 16 Toyos, which are as good as marshmallows....

To say the least.. I AM IMPRESSED!!!!!!! NE of you reading this, if you havent got them yet, dont freaking wait. It's worth every penny!!!!
And mad props to Hogan AKA "YO Its OK" He did an EXCELLENT job installing the shocks and I still have money left over to buy him drinks

I will recommend that if you need some work done on your max and you are within the vicinity of NYC, go to Hogan...
He KNOWS max, and if you want control... look no further than tokico
best 300 bucks I ve ever spent..

ok TOKICOs are shocks right?

just wanted to to get this correct, you have TOKICOs(shocks) with stock springs?
How does the car ride? Is it softer? or harder?
I want something that will make it softer.

So with these TOKICOs you have better grip on the road?

Re: ok TOKICOs are shocks right?

Yes, I have Tokico shocks and I also lowered the car with Eibach Pro-Kit Springs.

Let me tell you, it's a DEADLY combination~~~AWESOME~~~

If softer ride is wut you lookin for.... dont get them....

It makes the car ride slightly firmer, but with 10 times more control and the car feels like it lost 300 lbs!!!
It feels light on its feet, even the steering wheels is much lighter now.

I had the Eibachs installed a while ago, thought was the $hit.... Man... with the Tokicos, it made a WORLD of difference...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

For real, but how come Konis from 4th gen will fit on 5th gne max??

that is weird,
oh another thing i found out was that progress technology uses the same sport springs from 4th gen and used them on 5th gen..so that means the springs from 4th gen max is gonna fit on 5th gen????i am confused..

Hey Hogan, how much would you charge to put shocks and springs on my 96 Max? Thanks...oh, and how far are u from DC?

Non adjustable, so I question their performance.
Tokico's ran great, I test drove Jay's car and it was totally different from my 5th Gen with factory 17's.
Talk about ***** envy ?
over bumpy roads, it almost felt like the stock set up, but once I made the tires break loose, I was way past the limits of a stock car.
When Jason walked in, I was all grins. I was so busy at the shop after I did his shocks, I forgot to call him to say the car was done...He called around 4:30, and I didn't get back to him til around 6pm when things started to quiet down. Once he got in, I gave him his keys, and he paid. I gave him a break since I knew he was gonna buy me drinks later. In the books, Shock replacement totals out 5.6hrs.
1.5hrs/front, and 1.3hrs/rear. Thats where the estimates for $300 is coming from. I'll tell you something, given I've done so much work on Maximas, I get the front shocks out in 5 minutes each side. The rear, I'm not gonna glorify my time in the back seat, while my body was in a totally "pretzel-like" shape.
Overall it took me 2.8hrs on the clock. Kind of sucks, but I'm gonna have to adjust my rates for shock/spring replacements, cause the rear is labor intensive. Sorry to any potential customers.
If anyone is interested, Eibach $220, H&R $240, Tokico $270.
I have close ties with rim manufacturers, and tires, so ask for extreme competitive pricing, that'll blow you over.

They have them for your car.
But if you want them you have to get the part number from elsewhere (i got my part number from Stillen's Website) and have it on hand when you call.
Give them the discount code to get your 33% off.

5th gen part #'s + CarParts.com discount code.

5th gen part numbers:
HU2943 (Rears)...$69.99 x 2
HB3189 (Front)...$101.10 x 1
HB3188 (Front)...$101.10 x 1
Call CarParts.com & give them this code: 1963005 for 33% off
(only can be used if you're a 1st time buyer)
(33% off for upto $300... Maximum discount is $100)

SO...all 4 Tokico shocks will cost about $240 + shipping.

UPDATE!!
Modified Part Numbers & Prices cuz they old stuff was wrong.
I cancelled my order @ http://www.carparts.com cuz i could forsee it turning into a nightmare (also cuz of the negative feedback i've been hearing about the Tokico's). Dunno what the hell I'm gonna do now...maybe get Cattman Coilovers or something...who knows.

I just got my 2001 SE sterling mist auto (could not find 5 speed) and was thinking about doing something to it that would not look too radical or affect reliability, but would improve performance, so get ready for a bunch of (stupid to you) questions. I appreciate any help you can give me. What difference in appearance do the Tokicos make? The Eibach? Do you have to get both, or can you just get the Tokicos? I know the eibachs are springs, but what do they do besides lower the car? Do you have to worry more about potholes, etc.? I don't want anything that looks too much like I'm racing around, cause my wife will kill me with my past driving record.
Thanks--Gregg

more dumb questions

To answer your questions, I have Eibach springs on stock struts, and they ride fine, a bit harsh due to my factory 17s, but its bearable for my tastes. Tokicos add some more control to the ride. The factory struts just can't handle the power of the Eibachs. Look wise, my car looked awesome, when I had the H&R wheel spacers on, it looked just the way it should from the factory. Performance wise, the car handles turns more willingly, and during braking, there isn't too much nose dive present, so that's a plus. I've noticed on H&R Drop Spring applications that the rear looks lower than the front, looking unproportional.
The Eibachs drop the car lovely, and make the car look proportional.
It took a ride in wht2kmax's car to convince me to get Eibachs. He had Eibachs put on factory struts as well, but rode on factory 16s. Awaiting the arrival of aftermarket 17s to see how much of a difference there will be.
I'd rather not get too technical, but Eibach springs on factory struts is ok in my books, but over time the ride will go downhill. Investment on Tokicos is worth it.

Hulk:
A few more questions. What are H&R wheel spacers? Do you recommend them with the Tokicos and Eibach? Are the Tokicos only worthwhile with the Eibach? One of the previous posts referred to poblems with the Tokicos. Was he correct? Finally, what is the breakdown (parts and labor) of the cost of the Eibach, Tokicos, and H&R wheel spacers? I am in NJ, so you're only an hour away.
Thanks--Gregg

Questions about carparts.com

I'm not seeing the tokicos on carparts... did you have to call them? Also, if I get the eibachs, should I get the camber plates? They're only $25 or so... minus discount.

Thanks

Hey there,

First of all, yo its ok's name is Hogan not "Hulk"
and to answer you questions(Hogan, correct me if I am wrong)
1 H&R wheel spacer sits between your wheel and your rotor, they give your car a slightly wider track, thus better looks and slight better handling.
2 Tokico will work with any after market spring. IMO because the 5th gen Max sits a little lower in the back and the H&R is a even 1.6" drop all 4 corners vs Eibachs setup which is a 1.3" in the front and a even 1" in the back. It gives the car a more "balanced" look.
3 I absolutely love the combo! Read my post" just installed the Tokicos today"
4 Email Hogan at yoitsok@aol.com for more detail on prices and etc.

Hope that was helpful
