Well....

two things to consider:

1. From sample tires I have checked the specs on, you will be adding at least one full inch to the overall diameter from the stock size...not good if you are lowering and already limiting your wheel well clearance and turning clearance...

and...

2. Will look pretty ghetto...

Hey, you asked for input...

even putting styling aside, I think you should be careful about diameter and rubbing...including rubbing the lip of the front fender when cornering on pavement less than flat....

why don't you just change the rims first and see how it rides. If you dont' like it then go ahead with the springs and struts

I'd suggest lowering before putting any larger rims on a car.... it looks horrible with huge wheel gap with big rims. But anyway about those, as long as you keep pretty much the same overall diameter as the origioal specs, then you won't have any fitment problems. I have heard that 245s sometimes rub in the back if there's a lot of weight back there, but that is only hearsay.
Check out this link to double check that your new rims + tires will have the same diameter as stock.

yes, you can lower your car with 19" wheels. Now as for your 235/40's ... that's another story. The H&R combo you are talking about is not as low as the Progress that I have and I am running 245/35 series tires. I have yet to rub. I have my stereo in the back as well, but like I said (knock on wood) I have not rubbed once.

My suggestion is get your 19" wheels, get your H&R's, but change your tire size to 235/35 or 245/35. Either of those should be fine with no rubbing. Why are you set on getting 235/40 series tires. If it is price ... look at other manufacturers.

19's are not getto its more for looks though...because your engine has to work that much harder to turn those puppies! If you are thinking 19's be prepared to do some mods because you will be slower!

Yeah they are called oz superleggeras, ro_ja formula 5's and 7's. Price is approx 500-550 usd per rim. Superleggeras are 21 lbs each and ro_ja's are 22-25 each.

a 235 or 245 40 will fit and ride ok. Make sure you get an offset that will push the wheel out more, (around 40mm). You could also go 255-35 that will give you more width for handling and more sidewall for some soakup. It may rub a tad on big bumps. For safty of no rubbing 245-35 with a 40mm and the drop will be easy. And if rubing is an issue at any point just trim the fender inside a bit.

I think it all depends on were you live, i would get 18's then lower it. I have 18's now and they are like an Inch off the ground, what im trying to say is that you are going to hit the buumps on the road more and when you lower the car the car would hit the buumps even harder is what i think.

some things just look like crap....be it on a Benz or a Civic...even more so when certain parts, etc. were clearly added after the factory and not taken into account in the overall design of the car...

Hey, 'smart' guy...as stated above, he wanted input...not you getting all defensive because someone has an opinion...
