2k 44k problems

i have recently had two problems? with my otherwise fab max.
44.5 k miles no problems, all synthetic changes every 4 k
then i get a service engine soon signal -- bad
i tighten gas cap, sit tight and wait
dealer wants $ 80 to put on machine and then stick it to me
does anyone have any comments ? is it a scam ?
Also my gas pedal seems to stick and it's all or nothing
when i accelerate (SP) -- tough on my neck. what's up with this and do i need to go to dealer for an $ 90 throttle chamber cleaning?
i am hopeful for any help and comments -- thanx

well....

sounds like an o2 sensor or a coil... your throttle cable may need lube.

I got tired of being threatened with the $80 scan and bought the reader at obd-2.com for $75 (group deal price). Now I can pull my own codes with my laptop

Nope. Buy a can of Valvoline SynPower Throttle Body Cleaner, go to http://www.motorvate.ca/ (under "Engine", left margin) and follow the instructions.

if you have all your scheduled work done, according to the manual, tell them to kiss your behind. Call Nissan, or go to another dealer. You're covered til 60K mi. I would make helluva noise.
