Injen

Has anyone heard any news about the Injen CAI?
I remember seeing a post that coming out soon, but I haven't heard anymore about it. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but the Injen CAI doesn't require cutting a hole in the fender.

I posted it when I called them and they said they where making one. Just my luck when I bought the PRCAI it had to come out. Oh well doesn't matter to me.

Injen intakes " LOOK " great, im not sure as to how good they are. Im not sure how you could make a CAI for the Max without CUTTING ?

Well if you look to the left of your battery and to the right of your engine, it looks like you could run something down there?
just an idea

A front-mounted CAI for the 5th Gen Maxima that did not require cutting was made at one time. The filter was a panel type that mounted in front of the radiator and was protected by a piece of Plexiglas. The problem is that installation of the CAI required removing the driver's side fog light. As a result, no one that I'm aware of ever purchased one of these CAIs.

I don't know if enough room exists in a 2K2 to install a front-mounted CAI without removing the driver's side fog light. I'm also unable to find the web site of the manufacturer of the front-mounted CAI. They may be out of business. But the idea may give the inventive among you something to tinker with.

After lying on back for about 20mins and prodding around I don't see a easy no-drill/cut method. The only easy way would be to maybe cut a hole in the lower splash shield and "pipe" air up through past the trans. (once the core support mounted intake is removed) to the intake setup.
I say mount a small scoop right above that sucker (air intake) and get the cooler air "forced" in. To balance the look add another scoop to the pass. side. You could add a drain and filler for wet conditions. My thoughts.
Thanks -- SS

AH HAA ! This is a great Idea. If someone can make a RAM AIR HOOD ! , not some ricey thing, maybe like a single scoop hood that leads into a collector and feeds into a custom intake.. This wood work better than some pipe digging into the asphalt ... As I smoke my tires to race a WRX, That air isnt much cooler down there ! .... This is an idea used on Mustangs by CERVINI and on LT1's...

I look forward to seeing dyno and price - keep us posted on a group deal. 16 HP, no cutting, and reasonabley priced - sounds promising. Does anyone know if Place Racing CAI can be used on a 2002 or is Injen going to be the sole CAI available? Thanks again!

Has anyone actually verified that the Injen CAI doesn't require cutting the fender?

Place Racing does make a CAI for the 2K2.

That's terrific news if it's true. Could you check and see if they plan to make a CAI for the 2K/2K1 Maxima? Thanks.

I think the Injen Intakes look awesome .. But I doubt those Dyno numbers.. I have never seen a CAI produce more than 5-10 HP ..... I would love to see them back this up ! If it is indeed true. I will cough up my Frankencar....I also want to see the price !

No cutting..at least I didn't cut anything. It's a great mod, but I think I'm going to have to wrap it in some header tape because the engine on the 3.5 gets so damn hot.
