Installed H&Rs over weekend
Installed H&Rs over weekend
The handling has improved a lot! I can't believe the difference. The guy who did the install said my rear left shock is bad and leaking oil. I can't believe one my shocks died even before I lowered my car! He even charged me an extra $40 after the install because he said he had a hard time with the rears. I was planning to get my shocks done by him too. Anyways, what are my aftermarket choices? Tokicos seem to give many people problems, Koni's need modification, what KYB solutions are available besides the adjustables since they're not out yet?

kpark, how many miles do you have on your car? Tokicos are popular, KYBs are adjustable/expensive/moddified by Cattman to fit (only available this way from Cattman) and Konis have to be modified a little to fit. So right now Tokico's are your only option for easy fitment and less money.
Re: Installed H&Rs over weekend
How is the ride with H&Rs? I am getting them done soon. I am gona be installing them on stock shocks too.
I don't think there are any good shocks available for Maxima. Plus stock shocks are already made by Tokico.
I used to have Tokicos blue on my 95 Maxima with H&Rs and those shocks sucked.
How many miles do you have on your Maxima? It is strange that your shocks is leaking. My friend has a 96 Maxima SE with over 100K miles on it and his original shocks are as good as new.

Konis dont need modifications for rears
they are a direct bolt-on fit.
For the fronts, you either modify the Konis or purchase the older Gen4 upper shock tower mounting point and then they too will be a direct bolt-on fit -but as in all Konis, you do have to modify the strut itself because the Konis are a inner cartridge-type shock, meaning they fit inside the strut after you've cut away the top of the strut and emptied out all the innards.

The guy who did my install had such a hard time with my car he's hesitant to do my shocks now, either that or he wants to charge me a lot more.

when you say, a tech told you the stock suspension is awsone, does this mean you are going to install maxspeed with stock struts?
