ATTN: All 5th Gen Max owners w/systems
I am trying to install my system in my Max, I am facing at least three obstacles. One, what dash kit to get for my alpine, since I have the premium sound system in my GXE? Second is what design I want to go with as far as a subwoofer enclosure, and the most problematic is where do I run my 4 gauge power cable? I don't see any hole in the firewall to run the cable. I read that there is a hole by the fuel pump but I can't find the fuel pump or a hole. I also read that there are holes behind the strut towers. I checked and sure enough there are holes there, but I tried running the power cable to see where it comes out but I can't see where it comes out of. Any help would be very much appreciated. Mainly I am looking for your guys thoughts on the dash kit and on my power cable dilemma. Thanks.

okai i found a hole below the passenger side carpet more towards behind the center console !!
there should be a little rubber cap that pops right out and ther goes your 1 inch hole! i ran my power cable on the side.

[/B][/QUOTE]I was searching for the hole you mentiones but did not find a rubber cap of sorts. If you mean its behind the center console then do I need to remove the whole center console. This thing is giving me a headache.
BTW Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.
mine is a 2000, but i'm sure there is no difference!
you do not have to remove the console!
the hole is reachable from the passenger side floor, i think there was a little panel that is held on by clips just twist it out and reach toward the wall. good luck!!!!

I drilled a hole through the firewall since no one here could be specific about this. Some guys were telling me I could run the cable through the dash and up the wheel well and around the front bumper and into the engine bay and I got tired of the crap. On the driver's side, off to the left under the dash, there's a diamond-shaped cardboard panel that you can pry off. Underneath is the metal firewall. I drilled a .34 inch hole through that and it came right out into empty space in the engine bay. It's kind of tough since I had to use a medium drill bit and drill multiple holes to form one large hole, but was simpler than what anyone here was suggesting.
I ran my 4 gauge power cord thru the brake release hole under the drivers side, it was very easy. Just take off the inner plastic part of the wheel well (make sure you turn your wheels to the left). There is a rubber stopper where the brake relese lines goes, pull it out and run your wire thru that then up thru a slit in the fram in the top of the engine. Then push the stopper back in. No drilling required. Took me about 3o mins. I got the idea from someone on here. I did a search
