My maxspeed installation ! ARGH !

Ok guys. My friend and I spent 6+ hours yesterday, with a compressor and tools to install my new maxspeeds. They look and ride GREAT ! But they were a ROYAL pain in the A$$ to install.... Someone please tell Nissan to make our rear shock bolts easier to access.. I did the front struts in about 1 1/2 hours.. The back STANK !!!! Look at my pictures on my homepage... I can only see about a 1 inch drop.. I expect it to sit a little lower in the next week... Your opinions and commenst are always welcome !

Actually you are right. I had my old springs in my trunk, as well as my Box with 2 12's and my soundstream MC300....

My brother " ANSKYRUBEN " has a stock 2002 GLE, my car looks about a 1 and a 1/4 lower than his... I dont want my car to look to low... There are many speed bumps in Southern California !

Hi kloogy, that's what I did saturday, a friend of mine work at CT, he did the job in 4 hours, overall cost with taxes 300$ which included the mounting of the wheels-tires and balancing, he said everything when just fine. I also have my new wheel GTV Hyper Silver with Kumho 235-40-17 my ride is really cool, stiffer than before but that's what I like, when they finish the installation all the guys at CT, where like oooooh, ahhhhh so I got a lot of good comments. Because I ended up receiving 235-40-17 instead of 235-45-17 the drop with the spring is not as low as it would have been, but I'm quite satisfied and wait until I show you guys pics, very soon, I need to have the windows tint and caliper painted before I show you my ride.

P.S: My nightmare for the week-end was the entrence of my drive way ( too high ) I called the city and they will lower my drive way entrence and redo the side walk all for free.

Cheers

I disagree...you MUST have the right tools. The rears are no problem with a deep well socket, universal joint, and an extension. I had no problems getting the stockers out and the MaxSpeeds in. I was able to accurately torque all nuts as well. It would be nice if that metal plate was not there...but still very doable.

Also, I measured a day after I installed it and the drop was 1.25" in the front and .75" in the rear. I will measure again on Saturday to see the final "settled" drop.

IF you like doing this stuff, save the $300 dollars and make a day of it. Crack some beers and have a buddy come over. At least I know for sure that all of the bolts are torqued and the highest level of care was taken.

My $.02

Thats what I did. By the way, I did have plenty of tools, extensions, Bends..air compressor for air gun etc... We cracked a few beers.. not too many, dont want to say, " Hey Bro. whats this bolt that's leftover for ?" ... After a few days , I am happy I didnt pay to have it done... How long will it take for this thing to sit completley.. and what will be my final drop ??? By the way, they Handle a lot better !

I hear you about those beers. Only enough to take away the pain...hehehe.

I need to get an air compressor with some air tools. I used my DeWalt drill for the spring compressor. It worked well but probably took a couple years off its life.

In the end, I am always glad I didn't pay some dude to wrench away on my baby. They get paid a lot and sometimes they don’t treat her like she is supposed to be treated.

I measured last night by the way, no change. I am guessing if it will settle at all, it will be marginal.

Are you going to put in the UDP? It seems like it is a great mod for the 2k2. I saw 2 great reviews on it (Leftcoast and GregP). Let me know how the install goes if you do it.

I have the same springs, and mine did not settle very much at all. I wish they would have though.

They settled a bit more today, just my impression. If I dont like them, I will swap them when I get my shocks and struts. I am going to meet up with Leftcoast in the next few days. I am concerned that the UDP will not interfere with my accesories, Navi.. 500 Watt amp.. etc ...If I think it wont, it will be my next mod...

That what mine is after a month. The front settled a little.

I have a little over 1.5 in the front and 3/4 in the rear.

It took 6 hours to do a 2001 GLE and SE. No real problems but it would have been easier it we jacked up the front and rear not the left then right side. It was a pain to get parts back together.

But the ride is great and you can't beat $85 for springs with no installation costs!!
