Times on my 6spd

Well went to the track last nite, only made 2 runs, and had some bad wheelhop off the line.

60'2.29
330 6.26
1/8 9.47@77
1000 12.21
1/4 14.55@96.71

554 miles (yes you read it right)
All stock.
No powershifting.
And it was about 86 deg yesterday.

I'd say those are impressive with the temp. and wheelhop factors. Once it's broken in I'm sure the times will show improvement.

you say you had bad wheelhop and you werent powershifting. when i went i got bad wheel hop and i WAS shifting as quicky as i could and i got 2.5 60's and 15.3 was my best of 3 runs. im going to the track in 2 weeks so hopefully those times will improve then.

Mine's a California emiss car too, and I got about 300 miles out of my first tank of gas. I'll have a friend scan my slip if you really want to see it, I don't have a scanner. As far as the launch goes, I left at idle on the 14.5 run, but then I tried leaving at 2k and spun a 2.4 60' and ran 14.61@95. Still need to get it in to get the throttle fixed, as it wigged out on me again on my 3rd run, oh well. Either way, I cannot drive this car, I'm used to the Stang, cutting 1.6 60's and running low 12's, it's a big difference trying to drag a FWD car. Can't drive it so aggresivly, that's for sure. I don't know if I'll ever take it out again, but who knows, maybe next winter I'll try for a low 14

What did you mean by that you need to get your throttle fixed?

Thanks.

The throttle goes dead on me sometimes when I'm beating on it, it just goes down to an idle, and won't respond to the accelerator. It has done this 3 times so far, and the SES lite comes on, I'm dropping it off Monday to get it looked at.

Finally! Someone helps me out instead of condemning me. Thanks for the tip, now it all makes sense. Time to get the fix, and get back to the track

For the first 1000 miles if you hit redline the car goes into safe mode, theres nothing wrong with your car. Nissan did this to protect the car during the break in period. If you bring your car in to the dealer they will know you have been beating on your car.

Great times with a new car! It should only get stronger. Why sell yourself short with your sig? 96.71 mph should be rounded to 97.

Sorry, I have been in the car business long enough to know that, that is impossible. That's why there is a TSB for the exact problem I'm having right? So I'll take it to the dealer and they'll fix it, and it will be all good. Who cares if I beat on it, I didn't get the 6 speed to put around, and I don't care what kind of car it is, if the thing goes into limp mode at redline, like you are assuming, this is a very dangerous thing, since once it does this, you must stop, open the hood, and unplug the throttle motor to be on your way again. So if this is purposely done by Nissan, then they are idiots. But since there is a TSB for this, we all know that it's not supposed to do this.

Wrong and wrong I did not just make what I said up, I have first hand experience with this issue and have talked to many otehrs with this exact same problem.

I really don't care how long you have been in the auto bussiness for since you obviusly have not learned a thing about it. Programing a ecu to put the car into safe mode for the first 1000 miles is a very easy task to do, if you knew anything about the "auto bussiness" you would know this.

The Recall or as you call it a "TSB" is not causing this problem. The recall problem is a freak accident that can happen any time you put the pedal down and push to the right. Your problem on the other hand occured when you were "beating" on your new car and hitting the redline. The same thing happened to me twice before I hit 1000 miles and it never happened again, I now have 7100 miles. BTW I hope your looking forward to replacing your clutch in a few thousand miles.

You can beat on your car all you want, I really could care less, your dealer on the other hand can detect your abuse and can also void your waranty. If you don't beleive me that's your tuff luck, I don't make stuff up..

Emax is right. Your dealer can see this and void your warranty if they feel like it. I shredded the Tranny on my Stang once, while under warranty, and practically had to beg ! I had to go to 3 different dealers to find someone who would warranty it. Just wait the 1000 miles. If it still does it, take it in.. Not so hard to do. Besides, we all know BEATING on your car with under 1000 miles on it is NOT TOO BRIGHT ! In the end, its your car.. so do as you please...

Ok, well I'm not that much of a dumba$$, I took it in , and they pulled the exact same ecm codes that the recall stated, so I took the service manager for a ride, and beat on it with him in the car. I got it to do it's thing, and he sat in the car and scratched his head. So we drove back, and he pulled the codes again, same code as the recall again. So he called Nissan's help desk, and they said to replace the pedal stop, and it has been ok ever since. I brought up the ECM break in theory, and he looked at me like I was speaking in tounges. He said that he has never heard of such a thing, and what the car was doing is a saftey issue, and Nissan would never sacrifice safety to save a motor. So thats what happened, and it's been good so far. 1500 miles on it now, and I'm going back to the track on the 18 th.
