Nissan replacing my 6 speed

I just talked to the dealer, they just ordered a transmission for my car, apparently it's bad. Didn't even have 1000 miles on it.

No clue when the tranny will be in, the guy said it could be 2 days or it could be 2 weeks. Oh well, I'm a little disappointed, but at least it's getting fixed.

Re: Nissan replacing my 6 speed

What happened to it? You couldn't drive your car?

My 6-speed feels fine. I had the car for about 2 months now.

Did anybody else had their 6-speed transmision or/and clutch replaced?

Thanks.

Mine's just the tranny, not replacing the clutch.

It had a gear whine which was due to a manufacturing defect.

Was the gear whine you said when you switch gears?
When did that sound appeared?

I am not sure, but I don't think I have that sound..

There is that engine whining sounds that noticable when the car is in gear and I am slowing down to the traffic light.. Doesn't sound like transmission sound though.

details

Could you tell us what specifically was wrong with the transmission? I am having my clutch replaced right now, and would like to know what to look for in transmission problems. Also if you could tell us the build date of your car that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brendan

they didn't tell me what was specifically wrong with it, I don't believe they knew. They said Nissan wanted it back to figure out where the failures were coming from.

Build date was 11/01

mine was 11/01 also and I'll be getting a new clutch as soon as it arrives. Did you ask if you could have a new tranny with HLSD

Just kidding, but that would be nice!

Mine was build on the same 11/01 too I think or maybe on 10/01.. need to check.
But my clutch and transmission seem to be fine. I mean how did you guys came to conclusion that transmission or/and clutch need to be replaced??
Was it undrivable, unbelivable sound comming from the transmission or clutch?

Is Nissan recalling 6-speed or something?
I am kinda confused

Hey can you describe more what do you mean by gear whine?
I just noticed that my clutch is making the whinning noise when releasing it slowly in first and reverse gears. I am taking my car to the dealer to let them look at it.

I also notced that when I am in gear say like 2nd or 3rd driving when I release the gas padel and just coast in a gear I hear some whinning noise. Note this is a different noise than what my clutch started making this weekend.
Is this a normal noise? I just want to make sure I tell Nissan everything that I noticed.

Thanks.

that new noise sounds like the noise mine is making...it makes the noise when you are just lightly pressing on the gas pedal. Almost sounds like a metal against metal scrape noise.
