I have a question about VA laws regarding lights. Is it illegal to have clear lights in place of amber lights in VA; my friend just got his car inspected and it FAILED VA Safety becuase he put clear lights in place of the ambers turn indicators (this is a Civic); our Maxima's rear lights are setup the same way, however we have amber BULBS under the clears; would it be legal if he put in amber bulbs or do the covers have to be amber too?

One more question What about changing the colored side markers on a 200+ max; is that legal in the very conservative state of VA?!

 

I have clears in my 2000, I asked a VA state trooper and he said the lenses can be clear it is the output of the light that matters. I have amber bulbs in my fronts and red(pinkish) leds in my rear, not had a problem yet.
