NO YOU DON'T...

Well, maybe you really do, but think of this first... why advertise a recently unlocked car to any strange guys observing?

My wife always thinks of these things and hates my Rodeo, for instance, that unlocks the passenger doors at the same time the driver door unlocks. Makes her nervous in a parking lot with someone else on the other side of the truck when she really wants to get in and locked up but doesn't want to open a door for them too!

Just a thought...

im sure u know but for maximas, its one click for driver door and double click to open all of them. so my girlfriend or i wouldnt have this concern.

i think its rather safe, and im not talking about opening it from a distance. the infinitis have them and i think itd be tight if my nissan flagship had it too.

just thought of something, if some badguys were hanging out by the car, theyd surely hear the car doors unlock even with no blinkers flashed. or even if you have your dome light configured to turn on with the unlock, that would also alert those nearby.

If you are that close...
you can often hear the locking mechanisms engage/disengage...

I personally do not like alarm notifications of any kind (unless tripped)...I have my sound muted from the remote, like the fact nothing else happens when disarming, and really wouldn't mind disabling the blinking when it is being locked...

But, if you are adamant about this, it might be another apparently easy fix that Nissan has managed to make near impossible...

I don't know about the 00 Maxima, but on the 02's you can toggle from an unlock flashing the hazards once to know flashing during unlock by holding down the lock and unlock button near the car for a few seconds. This is explained in the owner's manual.

On my 2K SE, unlock and lock cause the signal lights to flash once. I have it on silent mode so it doesn't honk the horn when you lock or unlock. Maybe silent mode enables the signal light flashing?

you are correct!!!

if you have chirp-OFF, theres no flash for unlock.

if you have chirp-ON, theres flash for each time you press unlock.

i want chirp-OFF and flash for unlock!!!!!!

If yours is the same as a 2K1, put it in "chirp" mode and just unplug the wire to the horn next to the engine.

Easy fix and the horn behind the grill will still work. If you want two horns again, just add some wiring.

k, i just switched modes about 20x from my window, it doesnt flash on unlock when chirp is off. i hate the chirp, sounds so gay, if it were the sound of aftermarket alarm i wouldnt mind it. i checked my manual earlier when i ran outside to check it. theres only 2 modes.

anyone know of a way i can disconnect the chirp and leave chirp mode ON so i can have flashy unlock lights?

Yes, you are correct that it ONLY flashes on LOCK when in silent mode.

It's just a slide on connector. It doesn't clip on. Just slowly pull on it and it will come free, but it's greasy.

I would wrap the wire lead in some electrical tape.

If that's the case... instructions on the back of my key fob...

"PRESS BOTH LOCK
LOCK AND UNLOCK 2SEC
BEEP <-> QUIET"

Try it!

Are you saying that only that horn does the "honk" when you lock/unlock the vehicle, so that pulling the wire will stop the honk - but that the alarm will still go off through the other horn?

You missed the point. With beep on - flashers work when locking AND UNLOCKING. With beep off - flashers only work when locking. He wants beep off AND flashers to work when locking AND unlocking.

Yes, that is the horn that honks when you arm/disarm in NON-silent mode.

No, the alarm will NOT sound through the other horn. The front horn behind the grill will still honk when you press the steering wheel, but does NOT honk with the alarm/arm/disarm.

The "idea" was to make the lights flash when you ARM/DISARM withOUT honking the horn.

Well, that's what I thought. Can't imagine him wanting the flashers on unlock at the cost of the audible alarm.

I agree, that's why I called it an "idea". It's not necessarily what I would call a good one.

Whatever he thinks is worth it though.
