How does it handle in winter conditions? (GXE/16

I think I have finally decided to order my GXE/Meridian, which pretty much no one has so I have to get it from the factory (in Gray). I was wondering if anyone had any bad experiences in the winter, with handling in the snow/ice, with the wheels/tires you get (in my case, the 16" alloys). I won't be getting the traction control, not being available on the GXE.
Thanks... sentient.
Soon to order: GXE Comfort&Convenience/Meridian, Gray/Frost

Winter Conditions
My Max has the 17" rims/Bridgestone package. I had a slight experience with ice on the road last week/drifting snow. The tires are OK, but my fiance has the 16" rims on her 2K. Her's handled winter without any problems, never got stuck. The ABS works great on both cars.
Unless you live in an area where they don't plow the roads, you'll be fine. A GXE with the all season tires should do better than my Potenza's

My Max is by far the worst car in the snow I've ever owned. I had a mid 80's RWD Olds Cutlass w/ snow tires in the back and all seasons up front in the winter and it was better than the stock Max, my 91 Accord w/ all seasons was better and when I put blizzaks at all 4 corners it was FAR superior. My wifes 98 civic lx (small tires) was better as well.
Maybe you guys have a different perception of what's good but I often think that my Max is worse in the rain than my previous cars were in SNOW!
last spring we got rid of my wifes lx civic and got her a new Si, which has wider lower profile tires. So I'm somewhat concerned about what vehicle to use if we get much snow this winter as I'm sure both of ours will suck. maybe I should ride my motorcycle, LOL!
I have a set of factory SE 16's and a set of Factory SE 17's, my plan is to eventually get a set of snow tires for the 16's and use the 17's only in the summer. My opinion is that it's snow performance for whatever reason is inadequate. Hopefully a good set of winter tires will help.

Hi, I had a 98se for 3 years, driving it on winter, I kept the 16" magwheel on for the winter with winter tire and it run pretty smoothly better than the 15", I recently exchange my 98 se for a 2001 Se 20 th and I bought from Canadian tire 16" steel rim for 49.95$/each CDN$$$ roughly 25$ us and they fit well with 205/55/16 and no problem at all and actually run smoother than the original 17" that came with.
Double A
2001 se 20 th stock for now...
Thanks... sentient.

goin the distance
...no messin around with snow and ice up here north of the 49th parallel. Went for a made in Finland, Nokyian Haakepelitta 1 with studs...simply the best. Cant compromise the winter safety issues!!!!!!!

last week (2001 AE). Replaced the 17" Potenzas and rims
with 16" steel wheels and Toyo Guardit rubber. Much
better!
I also couldn't stand the sight of those 17" alloy wheels
covered in salt ;-)
