Racing hints!!

Hi guys!!!

I have a question to all about their expirience in racing MAxima 5th gen. I noticed that when starting from 1st speed than shifting to second at 5500 RPM and than in 2 seconds shifting to D (drive) the car runs much faster than if you would start from D (drive). What is the best settings before the race?

Truction off, Drive or Overdrive??? etc??

Thanks, Ruslan

Re: Racing hints!!

of course manual shifting an auto will be faster than just let the computer does the work. but ur automatic is not designed to do this.

traction should be off all the time
Overdrive is just a switch that locks or unlocks the 4th gear. That's why u dun see an overdrive button in Hondas...they have D1,D2,D3,D4 instead of D1,D2,D and an OD button.

TCS should awlays be off in race situations....

and uhm....dude......I'm not trying to flame or anything but....
your racing hints are pretty much common knowledge.

on the other hand: MAXI OVERDOSE:

I know the auto tranny's are not meant to do that but is it necessarily BAD for the tranny?

Re: Re: Racing hints!!

the reason that manual is manual and auto is auto is that the clutch is there to disengage the gear and then re-engage the gear after the shifting. On the other hand, manual shifting the auto is like forcing a gear into the position without the clutch. So...from my understanding, I wouldnt do that too often

tell u the truth...I've never done it. I know our auto tranny is a weak one and I dun wanna to do anything that will increase the chance of breaking it down.

Most of the race I had was at high end...I am very gentle on my first and second gear since they are used and abused more often than other gears.....soo.... knock on the wood.

correct me if I am wrong.
