I was at Sears the other day and saw this:

Craftsman 3 pc. Screw-Out™ Damaged Screw Remover Set Removes damaged screws with any variable speed reversible drill or 1/4 in. hex driver. Works on Phillips, slotted, hex, Torx® or square recess heads.

With drill in reverse and at slow speed, apply firm pressure and remove the screw Screw-Out™ bites into stripped screws without damaging surrounding surfaces Works great for screws that have been painted over or damaged brass screws

yeah, but if they have time to drill out screws, you're screwed anyway... the tamperproofs are only there to slow them down.. also, the tamperproof is not exactly an open key like a screw. that will take alittle more time.

I'm more worried that the sears new socket thing that fits all bolts will take off your wheel locks.. those springy things fall right into the pattern

my money order will be out in the mail today (within an hour) if I get a reply I need.

I just finished reading all of this thread and I got very paranoid about my car. It just sits in the driveway (in a disclosed location..if thieves are looking) and no protection. My question is, will I be able to remove the screws if I want to? Because I would also like to change my 194 parking bulbs. If you say yes, I am driving to the post office to fill out a money order right this second. THANKS!!

Sure, its not one-way. The key will loosen them.

And I still have several sets.

if you bought a set, just try fitting it on the altima. If it fits, leave those bolts on and buy another set for the Maxima.
If you didn't buy a set yet, buy one, check if it fits on the altima, if not, then just use it on the maxima.

The first obvious thing to do is check if the bolts are the same.

Easier said than done. I'm trying to help out a fellow co-worker who lives in NY. I',m in NJ. I told her about these screws and thought this would help. Great idea however the car is to far away. So if anyone has an answer let me know.

Just a thought, would it make sense to have a thin metal plate siting under Tim's bolts, but over the plastic "arms" of the HID's to prevent the plastic from being cut? I'm thinking of the galvanized steel used in HVAC air ducts . . . Probably wouldn't be too hard to get some of that metal and cut/bend it to the right size. It's just how to secure it properly that's the issue . . .

Tim,

Are you really in NYC and you still have the bolts? Please reply to this thread... kind of desperate for these bolts. Thanks.

Tim,

I'm in Queens and would be willing to meet you in order to get the lock kit. E-mail me with the details of where you'd like to meet and I'm sure we can arrange something. Thanks!

I only have enough bolts left for 2 packages. I ended up with alot of extra keys so I may try to get a few more bolts.

Honestly tho, these bolts were great when the "market" was for complete stolen housings. That quickly changed to smash and grab crews just for the burners. Obviously it stops them from getting something they can sell for $500-800, and only leaves them with $100 bulbs and ballast..

Ironically, with so many stolen/smashed lights, I suspect the complete housing market will go back up again but either way, they will take something.

I mean, for $15, it's cheap and is a good measure along with the hood latch kit and a good alarm with closed loop and/or shock at the headlights.

Instead of all of you NY/NJ guys complaining all of the time, why not just park your car on the street and get like 10 people who will stay up all night with you and wait for someone to come by to steal them.. Then jump 'em!

Hmm, think you can gain interest if I put this on Vqpower, or is that too much of a safety issue, like the How to remove 2k2 Headlights?
