I am looking to buy a MaxSE. I am told that if I wait until after Xmas I may get a better deal. Any thoughts? I want an SE with leather for $22-23000 and great financing.

Deals get better if you wait...

Don't know if the after XMas thing is because Nissan plans anything special or not. But what I do know is that as you move along in the model year, the prices on Maximas tends to drop. This of course is true of any high volume car. So, after XMas the deals will probably be better than they are now, and they'll probably continue to get better as the model year goes on. The best deals are often in August-October.

Keep in mind that if the '02 model is going to be changed, even slightly, then they'll be really motivated to get rid of the '01s before the '02s arrive. So there will be really good deals starting this spring.

Dealers also want to move stock before the end of the year. They don't want to have pay the taxes on the inventory. So, you get the double advantage after Christmas. They need to make their numbers for the end of the month and end of year taxes. Good Luck.

22-23k is a great deal if you are talking about a 2001 SE w/leather because if you get leather, you will have to get a lot of other options also. I went to a lot of dealers before buying my 2001 and I don't think I saw one with leather that did not have at least the C&C and probably the Bose. Those 2 will cost > 2k by themselves. I paid 24,400 + tax, title, doc fee (no dest chg) for my 2001 auto SE w ith the C&C package and f/m, w/d, m/f and that was a good deal at the time I bought it.

If you are lucky enough to find a 2000 that you like, you may be able to swing close to that. Try putting a bid in on Priceline. It's pretty simple and you can get a good price with no haggling. Either they match your bid price and exact color/options, or you owe nothing. If they find exact match, you pay $50 for the service. I was in and out of the dealer in 45 minutes. Good luck.
