5th Gen Angel Eyes...
5th Gen Angel Eyes...
For those of you that expressed interest in the Angel Eyes project. After some investigation, 5th gen Angel Eyes are possible. Production and test fitting will start sometime this week. However its going to be a lower cost that the e36 headlights. The 5th gen Angel Eye kit will consist off 2 rings with 2 led's a piece that will mount on top of the round fog lights and may even work if for those without stock fogs. We are also investigating into angel eyes inside the headlights for 2k2+ we're just a bit worried about not damaging the hids. more info to come later this week. see the website for details

Are we talking about the 02 headlights hear?? Just the low/high beams??
That would look mega cool!!!
It would give me a good opportunitie to also pop that ugly orange out while the casing is apart.
E-MAX, have you had any problems with condesation or leakding yet??

the big question and its answers are near. and the answer is, it depends. those that want the headlight angel eyes will have to take them apart and install them or send them to us. those that want the fog light angel eyes the install should be pretty simple and since its half the rings, its half our cost. we well pass on the savings, trust me.

but, I wouldn't use LEDs...especially super bright ones. If you look at 5-series BMWs, these aren't that bright...meaning they shouldn't overpower or flood the housing with light. Part of their attractiveness is the well defined circular shape. Excessive light would blur the shape and make it look as though your regular headlamps are dim and blue.

however...have you looked into the prices for the angel eye kits that are the same as the stock 5 series? 350+ for just the rings and lighting. the leds where the cheapested, effective way to go. the 5 series uses fiber optics to light the rings and quite simply are too much money. at 75 bucks our kit works at dusk and at night. the 5 series can be seen dimly during the daytime. is the 200 bucks worth that? with the low beam lights on you can barely see the 5 series rings, and it is the same with our kit. the leds do not flood the housing with light, it merely travels around the rings and does light up the housing from the rings. the only way to control that is with fiber optics.

well angel eyes for 5th gen fog lights will be around 45 shipped. the set we currently sell works for all e36 headlights and if i'm not mistaken a 98 m3 is an e36. the rings and leds alone are 80 bucks, quite a bit cheaper than anything available on the market. the euros, german, and JP angel eyes are in the 300-1000 range. the rings are no more than molded plastic with leds mounted at the ends.
I am not so sure these would look too good on a 2K-2K1 Max. If you only have ONE of the 'eyes' in the headlamps it would look kinda goofy IMO. Not sure how it would look even if you had them in the fogs and one in the headlights. I will just wait and see what others do and see how it looks.
