Wow I would have expected a faster time with a Y and Intake. Did you torque brake? What was your 60?

You could improve that big time. I fudged up when I went to the track and I got a 16.3. I went from 1-D by accident at 5,000rpm and my reaction time sucked too, it was over 1 sec. I feel that if I shift the auto properly I should be able to hit at least 15.8 or so. Also what was your 60' time, that's the key to getting the good time...well usually it is. Better luck next time, but the time is ok for a beginner.

reaction times don't count towards ur 1/4 mile time. w/ a 2.48 60' time, i would of thought u'd be a little fast...at least high 15's, expecially w/ a y and an intake. hmmmmm...

it seems like the traction control was on.......i bet it was........shut it off and try brake torqueing to 15-1800 rpm.a little tire slippage is o.k.

You might have had traction control on. Also, did you manually shift? Manually shifting usually gets the best times out of auto's cuz you can make it shift at redline. When manually shifting though, don't slide the shifter into the next gear at redline or else you will bump the limiter. You have to do it a few rpms before redline cuz it takes a little bit to shift. Practice makes perfect.

Two questions here. One, has anybody ever tried to see what the difference in 1/4 mile time is between the car shifting and manually shifting? Two, I thought only the AE was available with traction control.

Nope. The vaunted "Z(R) Edition" (read traction control) was available on any ATX Max.

The AE gives you VLSD. Oh yeah, and supposedly 5 extra horses, but beyond that, it's all cosmetic: Shifter, pedals, door sills, perforated leather, exterior kit, engine cover, keys and badges. And floor mats. Don't forget those floor mats!

Yes I have. My first run i did was without manually shifting. Manually shifting shaved about .3 off my E/T's. Just look at it this way, letting the computer shift it won't go up to redline. By manually shifitng you can go up to redline. I am pretty sure the 00-01 Maximas make peak HP just about at redline, so in order to get the most power out of the car, you need to go to redline and the only way to do that is to manually shift.

Wrong, I have TC and I'm a 2K GLE.
Doesn't manually shifting autos drop trannies?

Are you thinking of neutral drops? Those are bad for your tranny.

He is not a noob. But I must agree a 16.9 something is pretty bad, with the mods you listed it should have been better, something is not right. Were people saying the track was running slow? etc...
if not you need to look into why your Max is running so slow.

You might want to drop your Y-pipe and see if it has the "flex section failure".

More and more people have been noticing a drop in top end with the bad flex sections. Check the General forum sticky for more details.

Mad type, this isn't the Civic forums, there won't be no 16.9's in here (at least i hope)!
