So I guess you want to know who owes the most or has the worst deal?
For me 0/0
There are several guys who outdid themselves here but that is the vast minority.

I bought mine 6 weeks ago, after trading in my '94 SE:
Sticker: $27,255
Paid: $22,500+taxes, etc.
Put down: $10,000
Payments: $312/month

I hope I got a good deal. Mine is relatively stripped with just a sunroof, mats, and mud guards as extras. Who the *$%@# needs a heated steering wheel?

Any transaction over 10K in cash has to be documented and certain documentation of the person with the cash has to be taken. There is a federal form that needs to be filed. Ussually this happens at a bank when you do the withdrawal. I forget what its called but yes they do question and you have to answer

They didn't do anything like that for me, and I paid it all off in cash. 24k. And I'm 23 also. Let's just say I got into the stock market when I was young, worked through college, and drove a 92 Ford Explorer. Feels really good to only have insurance payments though!

How long are your loans for? I have 3 years at 0.9% and put 9K down on 27.5K + taxes and fees and I'm paying 678/mo.

Okay.. that makes more sense.. I was thinking I got screwed somehow. One more question.. someone told me that they heard you're only supposed to pay interest on half the amount you borrow, but most dealers do it on the total amount you borrow. Is this just a story someone tried to pull on my friend or is this true?

On my new Y2K2 I owe about 13K. I had mucho positive equity in my old Y2K that I sold privately and used that as a down.

Nope, you didn't get screwed, you'll just be paid off before I am. On the interest question, most interest accrues daily on the remaining balance. I've never heard of paying interest on only half the purchase price, and I've had 6 car loans. IMHO, that sounds like something slimy dealers would tell unsuspecting young buyers.
