Anybody Race One of These Yet???

Mclaren F1

Probably not since there are only a few in existence. What an awesome machine (over 600HP! ). I know this is kinda OT but I ran across a cool video clip about this car. Its a review done on the BBC (love those accents!). Its very good quality and about 9 minutes long. Its also about 27MB in size so if you are on dial-up you might not want to mess with it. Click on the link to see it. If it doesn't play well then right click on the link and select "Save Target As" and save it to your hard drive.

Don't those cost an ungodly amount of money? Around $800,000?

and...

they aren't certified for american soil... i read on a mclaren f1 site that it would cost 6 million usd to get it federally certified for american soil... so if you are rich like bill gates or something and have your own track then yeah, you can drive on american soil, just not on public roads...

Actually, these cars can exceed $1,000,000. There was a dealer in these parts that had one for $1.6 million. I think that one was a LM (Le Mans). The scariest ones were the GT (?) which topped out at 240 mph.

What kind of power does that Supra have?

Look at it this way: $75,000 (tops) for the Supra vs
$1,000,000 for the McLaren. I'd rather have the Supra since it's street-legal.

The F1 has a carbon-fiber body and weighs 2600 lbs with 627HP\479TQ. Even if the Supra had 800HP\600TQ, it weighs at least 3500 lbs, and there's turbo lag, so it really doesn't stand a chance. But again, $75K vs. $1,000K... big difference.
