Injen CAI installed

Swapped the Frankencar for the Injen yesterday! It looks SWEET!! I'll have pics up in the next few days or so. I'm prolly going to replace the red vacuum hoses out for black since they don't match anything else in my engine compartment.

The WOT sound is not quite as impressive as the FC, especially above 4K rpm. But it does growl a little more off the line below 4K. Interesting.

It's also more quiet around town and throttle response seems quicker in traffic, etc. Highway cruising volume is about the same as the FC, which is almost nonexistent unless you floor it.

My butt dyno thinks acceleration at highway speeds is about the same, but low-end torque seems slightly stronger. Hard to tell.

The whistle is not only not as loud as the FC, but easier to avoid by adjusting the gas pedal. A nice bonus!

I might look into the bypass valve I've heard about to prevent water from getting into the intake, but I know little about it. The place that the filter sits does seem pretty isolated, though. The plastic shroud that runs along the bottom front of the engine compartment seems like it should do a pretty good job of keeping the water out.

Anyway...pics will be up soon. I'll let you know. Oh yeah...I got it from Optauto for $266 shipped. It arrived in less than one week after ordering it.

I don't think Injen makes the bypass valve you're talking about, do they? As far as I know, only AEM does, but I wonder if that would fit.

AEM makes the air bypass valve. And according to an Injen engineer, it will fit on an Injen CAI.

The install was very easy. The instructions were actually quite clear (compared to the FC).

More hp? Hmmmmm...hard to tell. One thing's for sure, it seems like the car responds a little quicker when I hit the gas...especially around town.

Thanks! I like the looks of this intake way better than the FC. By the time you read this I probably will have the pictures up on my homepage!

I don't know about the place racing hiss, but the hiss on the Injen is not as noticeable as the FC. The FC (especially when the engine was cold) had LOTS of hiss. But, I can still hear it.

What are you talking about? The red hoses match the mounting brackets of your FSTB.

I've never been a big fan of colored hoses, wires, etc. in an engine compartment. Although, I wouldn't mind some sort of stainless steel braided hoses or something like that. That would be cool.

How does it brake? If you leave it alone, and just put the berk in, it will work no issues. I think because people remove the piece inside the midpipe, they are braking the MAF sensor. Oh well, for $70, and 15 minutes...just throw teh old one in.

Tony you could get the kit that puts a steel braided cover over your hoses. Goto nopi.com under universal engine.

the only way the MAF blows is if u do something just totally wrong. i cant even think of how it can blow from an intake, unless some1 dropped the sensot shile installing the adapter?
