Rotor problem on a spankin' new Max
I just got my Maxima SE, and it seems like one of the front rotors are bad. I get a pretty bad pulsation apon breaking. Is this a documented problem, or did I just get a defective one?

and for gods sake!!!
HAND TORQUE THE LUGS!!! DONT LET THEM USE A IMPACT WRENCH WITH A TORQUE SOCKET... they dont work! They will inadvertantly set them to 100+ and you'll be back in 5-10K miles.
Hand tighten with a torque wrench. ~85-90.

ahh..
yeah.. I have a cheap torque wrench.. you can only kinda get it close.. And I want at least 85. 72 just seems too loose for my comfort. You only have to see one tire come off a car at highway speeds to be paranoid about that for life

Yes, this is a known problem with Maximas and, yes, there is a TSB for this. I went through this with my 2k1 SE. Here is what will happen...
The first time you bring the car in with brake shudder, they will resurface the front rotors. This will probably last you only about 3-5000 miles before the problem comes back. The second time you bring it in, they will replace the front rotors.
So far the new rotors they gave me have been rock solid, with no hint of shudder. Only time will tell, though.
