Changing brake pads myself soon...Any last minute advise?

I am planning to install Axxis Ultimates on my front brakes soon on my 2000 gle (possibly today since my friend left his big a$s set of tools in my car ). We changed the pads on his rex to Ultimates the other day and it was REALLY easy. Is there anything about our car that I should know about or is it the exact same procedure?

Should I use that graphite stuff? (I forget the name) We didn't use it on my friends car and he hasn't had any problems. Should I put my front end on jack stands or just jack up one side at a time. We used jack stands last time, but it seemed like a waste of time. Also, might I need a c-clamp for the pistons or can you do it by hand. Did it by hand on my friends car.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd use jack stands if you're going to lift the car for any extended period of time! It takes 2 minutes to put them under there and it could prevent you slamming your car.

brake pads

Don't forget to open the brake fluid reservoir cap. Common mistake and makes turning the calipers really tough.

Yes open the brake fluid reservior and put a rag around it to contain any brake fluid spillage. The Axxis Ultimates are significantly thicker than the stock brake pads. You need a C-clamp for the front calipers, but the back ones you turn them clockwise to compress them. And no you don't need that grease stuff. Also, the metal clips on the outside of the stock brake pads aren't necessary to install on your new ones. They supress noise, but you don't really get any with the Axxis Ultimates. Hope this helps and good luck.

Spend the $2 on the little packets of anti-squeal compound. I finished the install of my Stillen XD Rotors and Metal Master pads and 2 weeks later they started squeaking.

I took it apart and applied some of that compound between the shim and the pad, and on the outside of the shim where it contacts the caliper.

Took care of all the noise.
