What are the gains from installing a pulley?

I remember somebody did a dyno on 2002 SE after installing a pulley and the gains were pretty good.

Is it hard to install it?

THanks

I know on the 4th gen, the jusy is still out on the UDP

Best way to find out... do 3 dyno runs for a baseline...buy/install udp..do 3 more dyno runs and now you know what the gain REALLY are..

Then you can come on here and share with the rest of the .org

let me comment on the dyno by mr. greg p..

he got roughly 10 hp over stock NOT CORRECTED when he dyno'd his UDP on his 2002 6spd

however.. when emax dynoed his difference in NON CORRECTED and his CORRECTED was roughly 14 hp on his 2002 6spd with the same mods..

so what does that tell me? or anyone that can do math.. if greg corrected his numbers.. he would be - 4 hp

Thank You Have a Nice Day

so why not put this in your first post?

and your saying that a UDP = negative 4 HP on a 2002 6 spd

I remember Greg's dyno sheet. I think his baseline was uncorrected as well, right? He also stated, if I remember correctly, that the temp/humidity was about the same on the post-pulley dyno and he obviously had it done at the same place so elevation wasn't a factor. Just say he got between 8-12 so that some of the doubters are put to rest........ Its my next mod by the way so I'll try to do some dyno testing of my own.

I'm a doubter but that's just because even here in Houston where humidity is "about the same" everyday it's actually quite different and it's just somewhat hard to believe he was lucky enough to get the same exact temp/humidity on both dyno runs days apart.

Then again, i'm like Bruce. I'd like to see more results before i believe in a conclusion.

You won't gain 8-12 fwhp with just a pulley. You're looking at 4-5fwhp max. It's a shame his dynos weren't corrected. Conditions change constantly. Things like humidity, temp, and most importantly, barometric pressure need to be taken into consideration and computed. I'mn amazed by the amount of people who go to dyno shops that don't give a quality product. If I went to a dyno shop that didn't correct to SAE, didn't use a Dynojet 248, not use up to date software, they wouldn't get my money. I question any dyno plot I see that hasn't been corrected.

BTW, I dynoed 175fwhp and 192fwtq with a Stillen Y-pipe, B-pipe, and intake. I dynoed 183fwhp and 193 fwtq with a Warpspeed non-mandrel y-pipe, B-pipe, intake, and UDP. Simply changing to better Y-pipe and a UDP netted me 8 peak hp plus I gained up to 14fwhp and tq at certain parts in my dyno plots. I know the UDP works, but I'm not about to say it gained me 8fwhp. I'd say closer to 4-5hp.

Hey Dany, the pulley does not create HP, it free's HP that's it.
For the gain many 5 th gen stated something like 4-5 HP, remember this is just a lighter pulley, I guess if you put a lighter pulley with a lighter flywheel then maybe the 10-12 HP sound about it.

Cheers

Is it hard to install pulley by yourself?

I want to give it a try but don't want to spend money for installation.

Thanks.

It's a tight area down there so I think it's prolly a b*tch to do, but I would go for it, spending few hours to learn sounds good to me.

Cheers

My #'s uncorrected where 239 FWTQ and 222.2 FWHP
Corrected (.97 CF) where 230.6 TQ and 214.6 FWHP
So it was a bit less then 14 (7.6)
