Intrepid owner doesn't fear Maxima.
As seen on DodgeIntrepid.net
Subject: "the fastest LH"
Some quotes:
corey is the fastest 1st gen...estimates are around 15.9 or so, so half a second off stock. dunno about the 2nd gens...bboucher runs consistently in the 15.6s but take into account he's in hawaii, so on a more favorable track he could be in the 15.5s or 15.4s. that's about as fast as we know about.

Spook R/T ran a 15.1 in his R/T before he had to get rid of it. That was on a VERY cold day though and on a mainland track.
I say we get the quickest (or best handling) Dodge and the quickest (or best handling) Max together and run 'em. That way nobody can say, "Well, if I had...". And if they want to go stock to stock, auto or stick, go for it.
And do it for real. None of this board racing. That way, there is no crying after it's over.
Unless the Dodge boys like to cry.

Newsflash: any and every car/truck/SUV looks better with clear CORNERS. I have a Grand Cherokee (w/clears btw) and it's pretty tight...but can't say the same for the POS Intrepid. The only thing that'll be "clearing out" is you with your tail b/w your legs after you get stomped by a Maxima. I can't believe we're even having this conversation!! It's like Shaq trying to explain that he's better than Todd Maccullogh...shouldn't be neccessary.

Question: how does an Intrepid with 225hp and 3600lbs. curb weight keep up with a Max with 255hp and 3200lbs. curb weight?
Answer: It doesn't!
Best way to get a child to leave you alone is to ignore it...
I live about an hour and a half away from the guy with the "cool" racing stripes
. Maybe we can find a lil track somewhere between Panama City Beach and Pensacola. I am a 2k 5 speed stock, lets see if he would like to meet me somewhere for a lil race.

It's great to see that we can all bind together and bash a car that not only have many on this board never drive, or for that matter owned. That car is not a piece POS, like the Maxima is NOT butt ugly.
I owned a Honda B4 my MAX and can easily tell you. WAKE UP BOYS, our MAX(as much as it is a great bang for the buck), it's not god's gift to earth. I can do nothing but laugh at those Intrepid owners that compare(even in their mind), their righteous ride to an M5, dream on. I love my Max, but can do nothing but laugh when org members compare it to an E46 three series(maybe we are a bunch of sick dreamers too). Bottom line this thread proves how ignorant many of us can be when others seem to flame, or compare their cars to ours. I would consider it flattering to have others envy our cars. If you fellows bother to read the original thread, the poster was put in his place in regard to our car being faster than his. Let's not let ignorance take over our board. Let's keep this board great.

We all know the Maxima isn't god's gift but when some other car owner comes in here spewing out stupid comments and opinions trying to pass them as facts, that's where we lay the line.
I don't see anyone displaying ignorance

Thanks for the link. I don't quite understand why anyone would want to shell out the money for a loaded Jetta when you can get a almost loaded Maxima for the same price. Several friends and coworkers have Jetta's. I like the Passat and Jetta's exterior, but the dash just didn't do it for me like the Maxima's dash did. The Maxima just gives you a feeling of being surrounded and feels like more of a car inside.

Edmunds review of 300M
Edmunds has a review of the 300M. Part of the article caught my eye, thought it would help fan the flames...
Here's the quote...
Less obvious is the additional power from the engine, which is not surprising, given the minor 5 horsepower boost. Torquey off the line, the 3.5-liter V6 gets caught flat-footed when the throttle is punched from a rolling start. Mid-range response is strong, but the 300 is a large car, and we extracted a relatively leisurely 0-to-60 time of 7.6 seconds during our testing. In terms of refinement, this Chrysler mill is no match for the Nissan Maxima's sweet V6 of identical displacement. Laudably, we managed to average almost 20 miles per gallon over the 860 miles we drove the car in a mix of city and highway driving.

I seem to think that my car can take a 4th gen or earlier maxima, I know it can't take a 5th gen though (If I only had a maual), I didn't purchase a Altima or a Maxima cause I would've gotten much less for the money I spent and my car cost less and looks better in my own opinion

I'm not sure what my HP rating is on 87 octane (which I normally run), but on 89 octane it's 244HP and 250ft/lb of torque, wouldn't mind racing a 4th gen or previous, but I know that I've met my match with a 5th gen, now if I changed my gears, hmmmmmm different story
