Injen Installation

Well I got it today. Injens CAI for the 2k2 max auto. (same part# as the 6sd with instructions for both) I have only one problem. The red hose's are a b$#^$ to get on. All but one of them seem to small. I need some help.

Well, on my 2K1, the hoses fit. One of them was pretty tight, but they made it on okay. Are the too small on one or both ends (engine or intake side)?

Maxgen,
I have nothing to help you but I salute your bravery. I have been sleepless on whether to go non-stock on such a new vehicle and if so; with Ingen-CAI or Frankencar, etc.
The Ingen looks so sweet and great gains. Do they sell that with Apexi? and what did you pay for yours? And is there any problems with it and water since it's not in the wheel well.

Hat's off. Hope to see Pics and hear about the diff in sound and feel.

Use some dishwashing soap and water to "lube" the area (with your finger) that the hose will go onto. It will be loose until the water evaporates then it will be nice and snug. DO NOT use an oil based lubricant.

Cool I'll give it a try tonight. As for as the Apex goes I guest it will work if its a 3" cone. I would go with the injen if I was you. I linded up the filter were it will sit when its finaly installed and there is going to take a very large amount of water to even touch the filter. You would have to hit a very large puddle going backwards to even pose a problem. Where the bottom airfoil ends is past the filter by 6 inchs. It is also that far above it. But its better to be safe than sorry. I'm going to get the apex unit next. Cost 255+15 shipping from Wholesale Hyperformance.

Thanks for the reply. Let us know when you get some perf stats and how it sounds. Most say it is actually quieter than the Franken until you get on it and it lights up. Still good for low end as well.
Excited for you (and move than a bit envious).

What is this Apex unit you are speaking of? How will that prevent Hydrolocking your engine.

The instructions from injen has both setup procedurs. The filter doesn't ride low enough for the trans to cause any problem. This will fit any 2k2 100% no problems.

How much was the intake? And does it void the warranty if anything goes wrong? Don't want to void any manufacturers warranties.

Actually, I was replying to Chaser's question about not wanting to void the manufacturer's warranty...I responded and said then don't make any modifications.

I know the install for the Injen will be easy...looking forward to it, mine is scheduled to arrive Friday according to UPS tracking info. I will be posting comparison notes to it and my current FrankenBerkenCar intake.

I'm glad everybody is having such a positive experience with it. I'm considering having my tubing powdercoated BLUE to match my soon to be installed blue vacuum tubing, my soon to be replaced FSTB with the new CustomMaxima BLUE FSTB, and my personal choice of BLUE electrical tape.

Well, the vacuum hoses I am buying will be split and cover most wireing bundles anyway...but I have been using blue electrical tape on various projects like the HID installation and the ambient air sensor relocation. It is a nice touch, actually.
