I just bought FSTB and installed it a few days ago. What an improvement! My next mod will be RSB.
Anyway, after I got mounting bolts there are black metal rings. I thought these rings are for distributing stress and preventing localization, so I just removed them. There actually is no way to fit in without cutting or bending some parts. Any thought about it.
By the I bought generic bar for 4th Gen and it came with no installation manual.

I just bent down the part of the ring that was in the way of the FSTB. My car is still working some 6-7k miles later so I don't thinkg it was that important.

Stillen instructions say to remove the original rings from strut tower.

Which FSTB did you get?

the bracket on the driver side must be cut to fit... the only bar that fits correctly on the 99.5+ is the Stillen unit.

There is a little nub...

on the black ring on the passenger side that need to be bent down for all of the FSTBs. Don't know what is does, but don't think it makes sense to remove it, either.
