Injen CAI off backorder

It would appear that Adventon has got some Injen CAI's back in stock since I just received my tracking number for the one I was waiting for. I'll be sure to let everybody know what I think once it makes it into my engine bay.

http://www.adventon.com for anybody who wants to know where I got it.

That is kinda weird...I ordered mine about 3 days later than you. I am getting it tomorrow. I guess they may have had better stock on the 2k2's

Just to clarify

I am talking about the VQ30 intakes, not for you 2K2 owners. Injen was backordered on the VQ30.

Are you installing the Bypass valve as well?

I am not. What happens when you put half of a straw end into a glass of water and suck? You get air. You have to remember; the end of the tube has to be completely submerged in order to suck water back into the engine (maybe a 8”10” puddle?). If there is a crazy storm, or in winter, I may attach the air filter directly to the MAF for a short ram affect (if that is ever necessary). That bypass valve does give a sense of security, but it adds turbulence to the air coming in and will probably never be used.

IMHO

Actually, you have a really good point. And you can always take off the lower portion if it looks like bad weather out there.

Damn..You just made my decision on Intakes right there

I had the same thought, actually. I'm in Seattle and drive on wet pavement a lot, but do not think I'll ever get that filter exceptionally wet. You'd have to drive in some serious puddles to get water up inside those plastic covers under the engine.

I'm still EXTREMELY happy with my Injen!!! And I have to totally agree that the filter is sitting in such a place that it looks pretty safe from water...other than a flood.

Hey Tony...how does it sound compared to the FC?

I am a FC to Injen converter too

I will be installing mine when I get home from work. Having the stock setup now is just not doing anything for me...cant even hear my motor.

For all those that have this INJEN CAI, has anyone's MAF failed? My theory is that it has vibra-mounts and that may help prevent the MAF from failing (vibration is the going theory as to why these are failing). So has anyone with a CAI had a MAF failure?

I have to say, I've been watching the intake threads with great interest...Tony, your post about the Injen is what got me interested - especially since you had a FC intake. I thought for sure I was going to go with FC...NOT ANYMORE! And Brian - Thanks for your help as well. As always, Maxima.org is THE place for Maxima information.

Long live the .org!!

Yes, someone with an Injen has had a MAF failure. Can't remember who, but it was recently.
