Can anyone comment on how to install the AE shift **** on my 2001 GXE? Yeah, yeah, I know it's simply threaded on, but what about getting the shift **** tight *AND* lined up straight. Is there any secret?

For anyone who has done this, how did you get it tight and straight?

Thanks in advance.
Mat

You gotta decide as you are turning it back on if you think you can make another full turn based on the amount of resistance you are getting. Using a wrench of some sort and wrap the shifter with a towel, this will give you more leverage. Oh, and it couldn't hurt to get a squirt of some nice epoxy cement in there also, just to make sure it is secure!

Forget putting another shifter on, how did U get the stock shifter off? Boy that thing is on there isn't it. do U turn clock wise or CCwise to get it off? as far as putting it on, U can wrap it in a towel and use channal lock plyers to grip it. I don't know what it looks like but if its alluminum be careful or I'll bend it out of shape. How much did U pay for it anyways? also anyone try the Pedals yet? wonder if they fit? or U gotta get the whole thing?

I'm pretty sure it goes COUNTER-clockwise to remove it. You need a good amount force to break the initial seal, using a towel and a wrench. After it "POPS", it should just twist off.

Hey PIONEER, what's the ETA to get your car fixed?

Later!

Yeah, most of the aftermarket ***** are set that way with screws, but since the AE shifter is OEM it is threaded like the stock ****. Actually my aftermarket **** also allowed me to screw it onto the stock threads too.

lefty-loosey.
you gotta love the loctite used by Nissan. Most other shift ***** come right off..

if you can't get it aligned properly (which you shouldn't run into a problem), you can use spacers.

I paid $48 for the AE shift **** from SouthPoint. I think the MOMOs were around the same at some retail web site, so maybe I'll take a look at them before I take the leap.
