Jack @ Jack stands

Question
Where do I put the Floor Jack to lift up the front of the car
I put it on one of the main beams to lift the front and I put a small dent there, so there must be a better spot then that.
Aslo a good spot for the jack stands ?

Thannks for help

I use the four jack-points shown in the owner's manual for the jack stands. For the jack, you can really use any fixed piece of steel. Some people use the axle. You'll probably scratch up the surface of whatever you use, but that shouldn't be a big issue.

Try that little nub jutting down on the frame...front and center.

Are you using the stock jack to lift the car? If so, I don't recommend you try to lift the whole front or back of the car. I lift from the jacking points on the side of the car, then put a jack stand there, then lift the other side and put a jack stand there.

I believe many acquired small dents in their beams after the first jacking experience.

I am using a full size floor Jack
There are two main beems on each side of the car
That is what I use when I jack up my jeep
When I use my floor Jack On the Maxima and try to jack up the front of the car [one side only] and tried to to use one of those beems. I jacked it up all right .But I dented the freaken beem
BUMMER
I put the jack stand on that beem too no dent from that

Reason for jacking ,oil change
Jacked one side of the car only

Can you take pics of how you situated the jack stands on the factory jack points? I can't seem to picture how to do it and it says on the jack stands to only use them one way.

To minimize scratches I use a piece of wood on the jacks

I did not use factory jack points
My floor jack dose not have a notch in it the way the foctory jack dose. so I can not lift from there with a floor jack

I was thinking same thing
lay a 2 by 4 on the floor jack lift point to even out the weight when lifting
What I did was more then a scratch

As Michael said - use the 'nub' that sticks down in the front center of the car. It fits my floor jack perfectly so I presume that is what it is for.

Do you guys put the jack stands at the factory jack points (those four tabs behind/in front of each wheel)?

Yes. I use the nub in the front to jack it up and use the factory jack points for the jack stands with no problems.

No. I definitely do not use those.

I use something under the car - not sure what it is because I never really paid attention. I believe it is part of the frame. It is light colored alloy that runs from each side to almost the middle of the engine bay and has several large bolts - the larger at its terminus. I just put the jack stands right under the largest bolts. Works very well.

Thanks, that helps.
What about the trailing arms in the rear to hold it up? Those frame rails don't go back far enough.

Why not? I've used them several times for all work on my car. They are well reinforced and have never been warped, dented, or damaged by the jack stands.
