It is BARELY bigger than the car it replaces; by less than 2 inches in any direction. It is an illusion created by the rounded roof line. It is NOT significantly bigger; you'll be surprised when you park a 5th and 6th gen side by side...I know because I've got an 02 and an 04 now in my garage.

Yeah! Way to expensive. I seen a couple here with dealer mark-ups. Might as well get the G35 coupe.

i don't think it's that much more faster since it's basically the same engine with 10 more horsepower. and the 04 probably weighs a tad bit more than the 02-03...

Well, can't answer yet; I'm following the rules for the break-in period (1200 miles!) before I drive it like normally would. Right now, I'm driving kind of like a granny (which doesn't boost the Maxima image, I might add (grin)). I'm sure at this point my 02 would win. However, as soon as an intake is available for the 04, it is going on. The car seems very quick on the throttle. Being an auto, though, not sure it will be able to hang with my 02 6sp.

There is a nice stretch of road nearby that as soon as I can, we'll put them to the test. I'm as anxious as anyone to see which of the two comes out on top!!

I am three weeks into my 04 and have 1000 on the odometer. Its so hard not to floor it. Im considering a trip this weekend just to get above the milage so I can really test her out.

Let us know how your bring in periods go. I am curious how the 04' max compares to the '02 6spd/auto.

What are the "break-in" rules? I didn't see anything in the manuals, and the only thing the dealer said was to use the higher octane gas for the first 1000 miles. I've been taking it easy, but where/what are the "instructions"?

There is a section on break in period (check the index...I think that took me right to it). It states that for the first 1200 miles do not exceed 4000 rpm, don't maintain a constant speed, no quick starts, sudden braking, you know, all the stuff we WANT to do!! I've been pretty good, but today let a buddy drive and he floored it entering the interstate...I didn't say anything. Heck, it has 900 miles...gotta be close. Plus I enjoyed it Thinking about a little road trip this weekend to finish the breakin period. Then I can drive it like a Maxima, eh?

More to come...

I had a sighting last night of a black 04 maxima. Me and some friends were at Las Olas on Ft Lauderdale beach right outside club Atlantis and i see a black 04 maxima with the bluish HID lights and some nice chrome rims. The car was hot as hell except for the grill. I dont think i can ever get over it. I definantly see this car being a luxury sedan for crusin the strip and pimpin the ladies, but still has some power to bring an evil smirk to your face. Kinda how Acura wish they could be. I couldnt pick a better place to show off a 2004 maxima than Las Olas right on the beach with the females just starin at your new ride.
