What are people pay for the Maxima 2004

Really nice Gen 4 Gary. As you know, my '98 wasa brand new. Recently I bought an 02' loaded ( exc nav ) with 4800 miles for @ $20K. Now compare that to a new one ( like I did the last few months ) and I just cant see it for another $10-15 K. Sure, you have " new ". But if that is the arguement, you my as well get the Infinity G35 for roughly the same price, and go with the prestige and R&T's # 1 4DSC pick, right? Or get ultra low miles like I did, its like new! By the way, I am pretty new at this. How do you get a pic of your car to follow your threads and replies that you post, do you remember? Thanks

ricerocket is right though, if you don't like the car then all the savings is for not. I don't really like the 5th gens at all, to me they look like all the other cars out there. If I was buying a car purely on economics then I would have bought a GM because I can get one at near cost (not invoice, cost...). But since GM doesn't make any cars that I like (that I can afford, I like the vettes ) it doesn't make any sense.
As for the G35 vs 04 Max debate, that is another thread...

I'm paying $31100 for my Journey Package SE. Which is 1000 bucks more then invoice. I drove one, and went in to see if they could find what I really wanted. The salesman asked what it would take to keep my business at their dealership. I asked how much they would charge me for a JP SE. He said the manager wants retail plus a dealer markup of 1500 bucks. I said I'd only pay 1000 more then invoice. He went and asked, not 2 minutes later he was back and said we had a deal.
They had to locate one still and said they'd call me. Turns out they could not find one equipped in Blue with gray leather and GPS, so they were going to have to order one. I approved it, and was told to expect up to a 90 day wait... uncool. Then about an hour later I got a call from them, saying the exact car I was ordering was already built and just comming off the assembly line, and the owner canceled, so I only have to wait for it to get railed to Washington, which will be ~30 days, still longer then I'd like, but a lot better then 90!

This is the age old debate of "new" vs. "value". Buying a new car is a luxury, pure and simple. Especially when used cars in excellent condition at cheaper prices are available.

Well go for value( value is a great thing if it will keep you satisfied and keep some dough in your pocket) I for one donot like the 04 at all, some of us looked at it and didnt like it as well, get what you like. Before we got the 350 and 03 I asked my wife would you want an 04 instead of the 350 and she said are you on crack, to each his own. I still respect 04's just like every other gen. of Max because its still a Max

If you are happy with what you have you would be a damned fool to **** away $8k+ for features and conveniences that you don't want or need. I'm going to suck it up and take it like a man. A very comfortable man but...

My deal was $30,800 incl ttl and an extended warranty. I don't claim to be the most hardcore negotiator. I do try to buy on the last business day of the month and I always do some research before I go in to buy. Someone else may have gotten a better deal than I did but I'm satisfied.

that insufferable independent rear suspension
BTW-Your sarcasm wasn't lost on me.
But hey, enjoy your car. I'm enjoying mine!!!

bluemaxx-I just checked out your homepage...Funniest **** I've seen in a while.
Good stuff...
I really liked this quote from the celebrity page: "I will put Super Unleaded in a rental car before I will shell out $100 to see Celine Dion in Vegas. But that's just me."
Great great stuff.

I was wondering how many people would buy into his post, I was buying it through the first couple of sentences... thinking "didn't this guy say he loved his car, odd" lol

yeah, I had to buy it... funny how a movie that did so poorly in the theaters could do so well on DVD. It probably would have done better if it didn't steal the plot from superman... lol
I think someone had an idea for all these funny things that happen during a work day, and struggled to find a plot that would allow them to work it in... then settled on this one.

The 1965 425/396 had it all and on modern (at that time) tires it was a hoot to drive. I'm planning a mid life crisis and that is on my list. I'll probably 'settle' for a couple of years old Z06 though. They are faster and more comfortable etc... Not to mention I don't know that $30k will clear a couple of the others...

How about a Cobra replica, a friend of mine just had one built. $35K for the entire thing, start to finish. He could have gotten it done cheaper, but he spent a few years trying to find the perfect builder. He ended up picking a guy in PA (he lives in CA, go figure). The car is nice!!!
Here is a pic of it when they loaded it up for transport to the west coast. It is pretty tricked out, tons of chrome and lots of custom features... well, it is all custom...

I see those Cobra replicas all the time. Most of them are pretty sweet! That's actually not a bad price considering what you get for your money. Practically a street legal go kart with a great power to weight ratio.
I know a guy out here who specializes in restoring 1930's era Fords. Some of his cars have been in magazines. Those things sell for twice what your friend paid for his Cobra.
I also used to work with a guy (Semiconductor industry-He's an EE) who owns an original 429 Cobra. That thing is worth over $200k!!!
Nice car BTW. I'd like to see it in my garage.

I was looking around on the www for a Nash not long ago, I guess they went the way of the Do Do.

yeah, it is pretty small. The guy that bought it isn't all that big either, so he put 13" racing seats in it, with sides. There is no way anyone over 6' is gonna fit in those seats unless you are 150 lbs... lol
He is probably going to yank those seats out and replace them.
That thing has a bored out 302 and it goes 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. It is pretty new so he hasn't had a chance to explore top end speed yet.

Another car that intrigues me is the DeTomaso Pantera's from the early 70s. You can find those occassionally for less than $20k but I wonder what it costs and how hard it is to find parts for them.
That car had a 351 Ford engine in it and was a pretty fast car back in the day. It would be a fun project car if you could get parts easily. I really like the look of those cars.

"In the early '90's Shelby decided to finish out the production run of the Shelby 427 Cobra S/C models that were not completed in the '60's and now offers them as "continuation" cars."
If he truly has an original, built in the 60's that car would have a value between $500K and $1 million. They have one on ebay for $300K and that thing has been wrecked once, repainted twice, and who knows what else. An original cobra 427 that hasn't been wrecked or repainted is almost priceless. There are only a handful in existance.
It is funny how many people claim they have an original, when there are so few out there. Funny thing in CA, they have a law that allows you to register your replica as if it were the original, which means you don't have to smog test it, and no cats.
#80
I think your friend is pulling your leg, it is probably one of the Shelby built replicas that Shelby claims to be original because he had left over parts that he used in it (btw it is a 427, not 429)
Oh yeah, 429 was a chevy engine wasn't it?
