Only in price. Other than that, they are 2 totally different cars competing w/ two different sets of buyers. Both are alot of car for the money though. Not much out there in the low 30 grand range. Since you don't have a big preference in the drive type and need space, the only other cars I can think of in this price range would be a TL-S or something.

Jeff,

The G35 may be aimed more at the BMW, but it definately competes with the Maxima as well. I looked at all of the cars in those classes.

The TL Type S is definately right there, but it needs a face lift. I was going to buy one, and the sales guy blew me off one day and that was the deciding factor between the Type S and the Max.

That's so funny...Acura gives the Accord on Steroids, AKA the TL/CL away when you get a lease, and I drove one that was nothing exciting, but it was a solid car...things like not having a trip computer and or Auto On Headlamps were strange to me, but the G35 has its quirks there too...anyway, after I drove the TL Type S, I told the sales girl to throw on the Aero Kit and the Wing, and give me a lease payment with 20K a year in miles...that conversation was on a Saturday 4 weeks ago...She never called...what a dope...That was my deciding factor too.

The G35, Maxima, Altima, Audi A4, Acura TL/CL Regular and Type S, BMW 325 (in all variations) were all cars I considered...in the end, the Maxima just missed the cut for me and the G35, while not standing out like a shining star, had everything I wanted and was my choice.

The G35 has some quirky controls as GMC pointed out, and I wish it were about 275 HP whith like 265 lbs/TQ...but hey...maybe Francencar can help me out there...BTW, what is up with the new cars, the Altima and the G35 (I can't remember if the Maxima doesn't have them also) don't have Hood Struts any more...they have the old fassioned Hood Prop...can someone fill me in on that one?

I would hate to see how much a lease payment is with 20K/year...

sure, you can buy any amount of miles you want, it's just a lot cheaper with 12k-15k.

The 04 max has them, you can see them in one of the pictures in my gallery. That is odd that the others don't
