Saw white 04 SE...

It had dark tinted windows doing a slow drive by and looked real sharp. I wish I had more time to look but I was coaching first base during my son's baseball game. This was the first 04 I have seen on the road and I really like the aggressive look of the car especially from the rear quarter panel view. I might have to see what the dealer is selling them for, I only owe $15,000 on my 2k2 SE with 17,000 miles on it.

invoice+ $100-$300. talk to the fleet/internet manager ONLY! call first to set price, THEN go in.

www.edmunds.com to get invoice price.

but why loose your a** for a new car. the 2k2 is still new. can you say college fund. unless you're banking on a baseball scholarship

I got mine for just a bit over invoice in the middle of April. They tried to tell me that they were selling them at MSRP, I laughed... then I left and told them to call me when they were reasonable. They called the next day and the games began.

I'm curious, how much does it actually cost to produce a new car? Like in relation to the invoice price.. maybe 50% of that or something?

It depends on the car. I know that Ford made $18K on each Lincoln Navigator that was sold the first year they were out. That is Ford Motor Co, not the dealer. A car like that fetches a premium, but doesn't cost much more than the Expedition which is priced $14K less.

i think if the grilles were body color, it would look much better, but then again they'll start resembling grand prix's

Generally auto manufacturers like to make a 5% NET profit on a vehicle. For example, a $30,000 dealer invoice would net $1500 profit for the manufacturer.
As stated above some producers are making a killing such as the SUV market. I heard the same figure on the Fords as well. GM also makes NET profit on their Suburbans of at least $10,000 per vehicle. Diamler is similar on some of their models.
This is why SUV's are such a damn joke IMHO. The consumer is essentially going into a dealer and realizing he is getting raped by $10,000 over a invoice. I pitty the fools who buy those dumb, big *** things
