Does your center display suck in bright daylight? Mine is set to max and can be hard to see. Good thing nothing important to see there.

Anyone else have an issue with the dash dimmer on the left side of the dash? Mine seems to slowly dim itself off after a few days.

Depends. Was it 6 speed SE vs 6 speed SE? Besides, a car and a half from 60 to 130 I wouldn't label as "destroyed" The 02/03 may be a bit faster than the 04, but it shouldn't really matter because they are quite different cars now.

the aerodynamics and HP should do it. At this speed the extra 200 lbs don't really factor in... besides, the other guy could have eaten a big meal and needs to take a huge dump... that should be worth a couple of lbs
Let's be realistic. Until someone gets a stock 5th gen and a stock 6th gen to a track to run the quarter against each other, this conversation is ridiculous. There are so many variables that could influence a street race, especially one that is started while the cars are already moving. These two cars are extremely close in speed so the slightest jump by one person over the other is going to sway the out come.

On another note, the 04 claims to have a 20 gallon fuel tank. I've filled mine twice now. Both times the low fuel lamp was on and the DTE said +/- 25 miles with 19ish avg MPG. First fill 15.6, second 16.2. Another thing, after the fill this morning I reset the avg MPG and on my commute the avg MPG was apx 27 but DTE shows 356. Wouldn't 27x20=540 or somewher in that range? Care to speculate?

I would bet that there is a 2 gallon reserve, or something to that effect. My excursion had 4 gallons left when it said empty.

I decided to try to start the car again, see if it starts, and it did to my suprize. I decied to see if it will drive so I can get to gas station that was like 2 or so miles away. I somehow got to gas stationg and filled up 17.9gals so tank was almost empty.
Not sure if Max has reserve but I am sure got lucky that time.

So I am driving and when all of the sudden I felt like car was cutting down power and when the car shut down. It was pretty scary, good thing I wasn't going fast cause brakes are not really responsive when the car shuts down. I pulled over on the side of the road and was ready to call AAA.

Therefore the problem is with the gauge and not the float.

Like GMC and a few others said the cars are so even it depends on the driver reactions in most cases. I feel that the 04 SE auto will hang with the 02/03 Autos and the SL will be a tad slower than the 02/03auto. Reason being the 04 SE gained 200 pounds but does have the 5spd auto which is more effecient and the SL still has the 4spd auto with the extra weight.

I want to see 1/4 track times.
I am going to need to take my car down to the track and see what it does. I think they do it on Fridays, so I will try to give it a run on the 11th.

at like 65 or so... i trap 92 in my spec v so we didnt evan come close to the 1/4... my brother in his acura cl type s runs 14.7s in the 1/4 and he's ahead about the same at that point and keeps on pulling. so i would say the 04 max se auto runs the same...

Sounds believable that the 3.5SE beat the SpecV by not so much. Consider these pluses and minuses in terms of performance:
Pluses
265 hp
5 speed automatic (as opposed to the older 4 speed auto.)
Minuses
Heaviest Maxima ever at 3400 lbs.
18 inch rims on the 3.5 SE. They may look great, but rotational intertia will take it's toll.
5 speed auto as opposed to 6 speed manual.
The weight and wheels will probably give the biggest hit to performance on the 3.5SE. The 265 hp is being soaked up by it's own weight and wheels, just like in the Acura TL/CL type S's which weigh 3500 lbs.
