Burned CD' s

Has anyone had success playing burned cd-r's in the 6 disk changer in the 2k4 Maxima? If so , what brand are you using ? The only brand that has worked for me is Imation black which has been discontued in production. The stereo was changed once by Nissan as well with no luck. It seems like Bose is in bed with the record companies or something. If I knew I would not have been able to listen to my music this car would have stayed on the lot. Infact it does not even play the cleaners. My 2000 Maxima played all my music without problems, but this new one is a nightmare. I have tried Imation, Memorex,TDK, and Pioneer cd-r's so far. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Nightmare64

I don't have any problems with burned CD's on my 04. And I only use the cheap kinds. Usually Fuji.

I don't have any issues either, I have a CD changer full of burned 80 minute memorex CD-Rs.

Try burning them on a different CD burner, see if that is the issue. Or with different software. You are using CD-Rs and not CD-RWs right?

Same here, no problems listening to burned CD's.

I think the name is Prime Peripherals, that's all I could find on there. 80min/700meg

My guess is that the software you are using isn't very good, try a new version of Nero.

No problems here either.

I use the Verbatim rainbow colored CD-Rs, and I burn at 32x. You might want to double check how you are burning the CDs... make sure you are not burning them as MP3 CDs... but I doubt that is the root of the problem, since you have successfuly gotten the Imations to work... I would try (as suggested already) to burn at a slower speed, and to try another computer perhaps...

If the problem isn't the CD, it's the burner beam : try burning at a slower speed, or just buy a new burner

before you buy a new burner, try a friends. The best thing you can do is try one of the CDs that doesn't work in your car, in a different car. If it works, try it in another 04 Maxima. Go to the dealer if you don't know anyone that has one.

That will tell you if it is the CD or the car. If it works at the dealer but not in yours, insist that they swap the cd-changer/radio out.

I think we have definately come to the conclusion that this is an issue on nightmare's side. Now we need to figure out what the issue is on his end.

See my post 2 up from this, it will give you a plan to troubleshoot and identify the problem.

cd head? it isn't like a tape, the laser doesn't actually touch the cd, it bounces the beam off of it returning 0s and 1s.

Re: Burned CD' s

No problem whatsoever with burned CD's. Plays all of mine. Better get that checked. You sure you're not trying to play MP3 files?

According to 2004 owners manual 4-21:

The following CDs may not work properly:
Copy control compact discs (CCCD)
Recordable compact discs (CD-R)
Rewritable compact discs (CD-RW)
