Programming a new key
Programming a new key
Looking for some help on how to program a new key blank. I'll be ordering a new key blank ~$21 to use for bypassing the security system when I put in an automatic car starter. My Ford and Buick have different sequences of putting the existing key in, then the blank, etc, etc. On the Explorer I need to good keys to make a 3rd, not true with the Max I'm told. Dealer wants $70 to do 1 key, they can blow me.
Want to make sure I don't erase the 2 good keys I have!!! Chips are making their way into everything, pretty soon we all will have implants.
Any experts, better yet anybody with experience??? Thanks

If it's anything like the 5th gen, you have to go to the dealer to program a key. They have the Consult tool which they hook up to your car and program each key. Unlike the remotes which you can program yourself, the key itself needs to be programed by the dealer. $70 for programing is ridiculous, as it only takes a couple minutes to hook up the Consult and program the key. Your best bet is to make some kind of side deal with a Nissan tech and have him do it for like $25. good luck.
