Sirius or XM?

Well, I've read a few threads here and there about which people would rather pick, etc. I think I may bite and get a tumer (car is prewired so it won't be that big of a deal to install myself). So, which do you guys have (if any), or which would you recommend? Doesn't Sirius have more commercial free programming, has a higher monthly price ($13 vs XM's $10)? Does XM have more channels?

Anyway, I think I'm going to try to install the antenna inside the car on the rear shelf/deck.. anyone else do this? How is reception?

Thanks for any input.

Starting Feb. 1st 100% of XM's Music Channels will be Comercial-Free.... with XM Instant Traffic & Weather starting March 1st. Subscriber cost unchanged at $9.99 per month. Check out the XM site. I have XM in home and luv it. If my early build '04 was pre-wired, I wouldn't hesitate to install it in my Max (not looking forward to runn'in the wiring harness )

You will definitely take a hit on reception if you install antenna inside car on rear deck.... How much of a hit but any location other than roof, will negatively affect performance.... you'll just have to determine if reception is acceptable for you.

Up until he said that about XM, I know that Sirius was better. I know they were a little higher, but they have more channels and more commercial free.

That sounds like a pretty good deal though starting on Feb. 1st. I mean, those kinds of stats are hard to beat.

I have XM and I love it. I have never heard Sirius, so I can't really say anything about it, but I am definately satisfied with XM. Now that they are also going commercial free, you can't beat it. I also have my antenna installed inside on my rear deck. The reception is almost always full strength. The only time it has dropped out has been in parking garages, and under heavy thick awnings. I think that is pretty normal though. As time goes on, XM will install more and more repeaters so the dropout will eventually not be a problem.

Thanks for all the replies guys... like Brudaddy said, up until I saw that XM was moving to more commercial free channels, I was slightly leaning towards Sirius.. now it looks like XM might be it.

Thanks for all the replies... I'm going to shoot for the rear deck too so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Great Keep us posted on your reception... Nismaniac seems to have found it quite acceptable. I certainly would also much rather NOT mount that hideous looking antenna on outside of vehicle.

I had XM and bought the Sirius tuner. After using it for several weeks I came to conclusion that the sound quality on XM is much better and Sirus changed some of their programing, I think for the worse. I swaped the tuners back to XM. Too bad, I had high hopes for Sirius.

There will be a sticker in your driver door jam stating so, or you can call Nissan with your VIN, they can tell you.

I have Sirius and it's great. I just have the antenna sitting on the back of my (5G) rear deck, and it works fine. It does drop out every once in awhile, but that's ok. My wife has the same (Audiovox PNP2) unit in her Escape, but with her antenna on the roof it *never* drops out. Whichever service you pick I'm sure you'll love it. I prefer Sirius because their playlists are slightly more "hits driven" while XM plays more obscure stuff, but that might be to your taste. Go to both websites, they'll let you sample their music channels.

Congratulations, the "up front" cost may be a bit, but it is well worth it! You'll never listen to FM again! (or a CD, for that matter.. I haven't!)
