HOw do you reset the ECU on 04 maximas?

 

Good question, I'd like to know myself!

So far the only way I know how to get rid of it is to take it into the dealer.

If you are refering to the check engine lights or getting the error codes cleared/read you should be able to take it to AutoZone. Also if you want to do it yourself Carchip by daviscorp can monitor engine paramaters and read/clear codes. Well I know it can read parameters.. I haven't had an opertunity to read/clear codes with it. I haven't used it yet on my 04 max... I used it on my now totaled 97 camry.
