no problems.....

sup fellas,

I keep reading posts of people complaining and having problems with there 6th gen.....however i have to say that other very "minor" problems, the car is running great......this is my 3rd Max (95,00,04) and i have to say the car keeps getting better....the 04 is hands down the BEST MAXIMA EVER......i will continue to buy them cause the performance, reliability and style keeps improving......so say what you like but we all have a PHAT car that most others envy.....seems like people complain about what they dont have and dont appreciate what they do have......we have a great car that keeps on getting better!

I love going out to a parking lot and getting into the best car parked there. As I pull out of the lot in the new Maxima I almost feel sorry for the poor schmucks driving Sunfires and Cavaliers. They'll never know the joy of driving a REAL car.

Agreed. LOVE my 04'. Car hauls *** and I get TONS of compliments on it every week. I think you would be hard pressed to find another sedan as nice as the 6th gen for the price.

Is there some mistake? This is a totally positive thread. I had begun to think my nineteen years of blind loyalty to the Maxima was the only thing keeping me from comprehending what a dud the '04 must be.

But now I am seeing others post here who are as happy with the '04 as I am. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling! Tha Maxima has matured along with me, and is the right car for me today just as it was in 1985.

Whenever I see another 04 Maxima go by, I not only admire the car; I look closely at the driver. Many are unable to keep a smile off their face. I am probably reaching here, but I take their choice of vehicle as a confirmation of their fine taste in transportation.

Excuse me while I go check the fluids in my Maxima; it is so easy to baby something when you love it!

I agree 100%. I've had my 04 SE for a couple of days now. I traded in my 03 Max on it. I find myself flying down the highway with a big smile on my face and often succombe to the urge of letting out a big :

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

I love my new car so much that i want to buy another 04 Max just to put in storage so i can have another new one to drive when i'm done with my current one.

By far, my SL is the best car I've ever owned-- and the best looking!

Agree with everyone here...this Max is by far the best. I couldn't be happier with my decision. The '04 models have been out almost a year now, and I still get people stopping me in parking lots asking about and admiring my car.

Max #5 for me too...just took it for it's first lengthy roadtrip (Boston-Montreal). It was a sheer pleasure to drive, and my guests in the back bucket seats couldn't stop raving about the comfort. Much smoother ride than my '01 GLE, even on those rough "winter" upper New England roads!

Third Max and fourth Nissan here and the more I drive this car is the more I love driving this car. I still get compliments on this car 11 months into ownership. I also like that for once every other car on the freeway isn't a sixth gen, but on the odd occasion when I see another on the road the driver usually gives a thumbs up and a smile once he gets next to mine. By far the best Max yet.

This is just my 6th NISSAN between me and the wife!!! '87 MAX, '90 Sentra, '94 NX1600, '97 Quest, '01 Pathfinder, and {...drum-roll please...} 2004 MAX... If anything, you two have definitely qualified as the "go-to" MAX experts for this forum to say the least!

think about it....do you know how many times the car cruising next to you on the highway has thought twice about slamming the gas when he see's the 3.5SE or 3.5SL...he knows its a killer V-6 that he "might" have a chance against or get killled by......the MAX is the most bang for the buck and keeps getting better....keep on truckin fellas and like i said with the first thread.......WINNING IS WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really tried to be open minded and consider other cars before I bought my '04. I considered a BMW 330CI (too much $; not enough rear legroom); the G35 (love the coupe--but no traction; considered the G35X, but didn't like the boxy look). And after driving the Max, I even told my dealer (great outfit--no bull--just straight ahead business for a loyal owner) that I was going to drive the G35. He said that he understood; when I returned a little over an hour later, he just cracked a little smile and said "ready to fill out the paperwork?"

There is just no two ways about it. I have loved all five of my Maxes. It's the best bang for the buck, and a real joy to drive.

As I've posted here before, I really like the looks of the G35 and the fact it's rear drive, and I actually intended to buy one when I ended up with the Max. Don't get me wrong - I loved the Maxima, too, but I had the idea the G35 was a better performer and a little nicer. So I got one for a day-long test drive ... and I wasn't quite as impressed anymore.

First, the Maxima seems every bit as quick to me, and it does it with more "control". The G seems to me to have a "nervous" auto trans ... it kicks down too aggressively, making quick driving a jerky experience of deep downshifts and lots of unnecessary revs. On top of that, it lacks a lot of things the Maxima has as standard equipment ... telescoping steering column, cornering lights, rear A/C vents, and trip computer, to name just a few. The Maxima is bigger-feeling inside, too, and I think the trunk is larger. And if you visit the G forums, you'll find they average something like 17-18 mpg city and maybe 23 hwy, vs. my 22-23 city and 28-30 hwy.

All this for $3-4,000 less than the G!

This is not intended to be a comparison post, but just to confirm my opinion that I made a better choice in terms of price and content with the Maxima, and I didn't give up anything measurable in terms of performance. I agree there's not a better buy out there than the Max!

I will have to admit I am a to NIssan and the Max. I drove trucks for the past 9 years. Honestly this is the 1st Max that really caught my eye, well actually the 5th gens made me take notice but I was still in truck mode...
Anyways I love my Max and haven't had any problems beside my fog lamp burning out. I also drove the G-35 the same day drove and decided to buy the max, enough said!!!!

I wouldn't go that far with the mighty Maxima V-6 LOL. Although I agree with majority that this Maxima is a great car. I've never owned a Nissan and would have never considered a Maxima before this year. Love the looks and the comfort of the car. Very decent power for a family car as well. It's definitely a highway cruiser. Of course if I want to go fast I just jump in the family Cobra

Not only do I Love my Max,(third one by the way) the dealership I bought it from treated me the way I think a customer deserves to be treated and they have a great service department to boot. My experiences both with my Maximas and my dealerships have been more pleasant with each purchase with the 6th gen being tops.
