Help! Please clarify what the dealer told me.

I called my local dealership and ask a couple of questions. I don't believe them. Can you help?

They told me that you can not get a burnt orange maxima. Is that true?

They said the nav system is not a nav system is a CD-Rom map quest with a screen.

They said the nav system can not play DVDs; I heard it could.

What is the truth?

I can't recall nor have I ever even heard of a car salesperson telling an "untruth".

Honestly, I heard that the color you asked about is no longer available unless they've got them hiding somewhere....Or, you want a used Maxima. As far as the navigation. I don't have it but I can't see them telling you anything to discourage you from coming to the dealership if it weren't true.

Color and navigation aside, ...Get yourself a Maxima. Your senses will love you for it!

The burnt orange doesn't seem available anymore. Doesn't make much sense to me either. Maybe they thought it might not sell, so they made only so many. The navigation system is a dvd rom, and it does what it says; it is not mapquest type thing, it will give you directions turn by turn, POI's (Points of Interest) and other things like that. I don't have it myself, I actually have a GPS system on my IPAQ and it works great. Plus I can move it from car to car, or take it with me when I take a trip. (When you truly need directions).

Also you can't play DVD movies on it. This is not due to the player, but the screen would look like crap. I'm sure someone will come up with a mod soon.

The 'burnt orange' (actually called 'radiant ember') was an introductory color produced only until around the end of last July. It was intended to bring back memories of early Z cars, many of which had a similar color. It has been 'unorderable' since July. Several burnt orange cars lingered unsold on dealer's lots for months, but virtually all have now been sold.

Since August, the only changes in color availability on the '04 Maxima were the addition of 'smoke' (very dark gray) and 'coral sand' (light tan) back around February 5th. Both are very attractive colors.

For the '05 release, I would expect Nissan might add a color (maybe dark green?), and perhaps drop the slow-moving 'champagne mist', which is now too near the 'coral sand' to warrant continuation.

The navigation is DVD based with GPS location. So the GPS finds where you are at and the DVD based maps show where you are at. The DVD player is not your normal DVD player, it will not play normal DVD's, it is a proprietary player, mostly for saftey so there will not be distracted drivers watching DVD's.
