Door lock/window-down breakins?

There's a fair amount of talk on the G35 forums about thieves using screwdrivers to force the door lock on these cars and get in by using the window down-feature (turn the key to the right and hold it and the window rolls down).

I haven't seen any reports of this happening to Maxima owners, but since the window thing works the same way, I wouldn't be surprised to hear of it happening. Anyone seen any reports of this? Or is the G35 just more prone to breaking in this way?

Mike

Well, unfortunately that would work on the maximas also. It would not only roll the windows down, but it will also disarm the factory alarm. I don't know if it's any easier/harder to pop out the key cylinder in the max than it is in a G35. Most cars with this feature are all prone to the same thing.

It's all the more reason to get an aftermarket alarm installed. At least you will have some kind of protection against break ins.

Per 2004 specs sheet, the tamper proof door lock key cylinder comes standard
